I was originally planning to make a small doodle on your strawpage, but posting it here is probably better. I've never used strawpage befure anyways lol

I hope you like this quick stupid doodle, lol. I know it's your birthday, not Mayami's, but I hope a birthday themed doodle would be good enough

Don't count all the candles! Just trust that there's 3,986... The queens probably wouldn't be too pleased if Mayami was presented with a cake with an insufficient number of candles :P

Her metabolism is something to envy.

Also, I guess I should take the question seriously and I don't know where else to answer. In zoology the Mustelidae are a family of carnivorous mammals that includes weasels, badgers, otters, and so on. Until very recently, due to anatomical similarities, skunks were considered to be part of this family, but recent analysis shows them to be genetically distinct (de-stinked?) and much closer to raccoons and red pandas. Nonetheless Chud's enthusiasm is infectious, isn't it? BILLIONS MUST LOVE

Vio's tail may not be as thick and fluffy as Jade's, but Ruby certainly still appreciates it :P

To give him credit, he does still have a pretty fluffy tail, very long too. Ruby better hold on tight, it would only take one tail flick fur her to get sent flying

I really struggled with the pose on this one fur some reason, even though it's really simple. I also used a different brush fur the lineart here, I think I'm kinda done with the old one. This new one just pops a lot more, I like it. Plus, I'm more used to it, it's what I used in my older art lol.

If you have built up a tolerance, it's no longer horribly uncomfurtable, and sometimes you can get a little bit of an endorphin rush from it. It's a vice, but compared to some I think it's probably pretty innocuous. Hot peppers are vegetables, so they have vitamins, right?

i may not have presented it well, but they are not zombies. zombie implies undead, and the creatures are not dead, they are very much alive (especially on the cellular level). i dont remember the survivors referring to the monsters as zombies in the thing movie. one of my next tasks is going to be making a procedurally generated amorphous flesh creature

I overshot the elevator and fell out of bounds. Right at the final stretch, too.. Oh well, more time to collect my thoughts about this I guess.
>>86509
I played the beginning and I really like it. I have some suggestions that might make the game better.

Fur the intro, I think you should explain what is happening as we walk. So, we immediately get put in the dark with text on screen explaining that we've been walking fur hours. When we reach the light, have text explain that we finally see light. I think living the story would be cool.

When we get the first gun, I think it would make more sense to get it from the dead body (along with the bandages too). Kinda of send a message that this poor chump couldn't handle the heat and died with supplies.

The music felt really fast paced, and I think this game encourages a slower play style (I could be wrong) so slowing down the beat would fit the mood better.

This is really impressive and cool. I died to the face hugger too and having to restart really sucked. Maybe have it be extra dumb in the beginning so noobs don't insta die. Also where is the keybind to self unalive?
Replies: >>86559

>>86529
you are infected. past 50% infection it starts messing with your screen and dialogue gets more and more jumbled. you need to give yourself chemotherapy (yellow blood bags) to push it back. it's like phalanx pills from no more room in hell
>>86546
at the entrance elevator? there's supposed to be a trigger that activates an ending. i might have to see what's going on
>>86550
i'll be honest, i rushed the game as i'm not going to have very much free time soon, and i promised myself i would actually release a game fur once
>When we reach the light, have text explain that we finally see light. I think living the story would be cool.
i originally had the player say this, but i decided it made them too talkative. but maybe it would make sense to have them say this
>When we get the first gun, I think it would make more sense to get it from the dead body (along with the bandages too). Kinda of send a message that this poor chump couldn't handle the heat and died with supplies.
that actually is a good idea
>The music felt really fast paced, and I think this game encourages a slower play style (I could be wrong) so slowing down the beat would fit the mood better.
you are probably right. i suck at making music, and this game is the first time i have touched an instrument in months
>This is really impressive and cool. I died to the face hugger too and having to restart really sucked. Maybe have it be extra dumb in the beginning so noobs don't insta die.
my idea was kinda like zomboid or scav prototype where there is perma-death, but if you want you can use the commands save and load to load a save

>>86509
>>86546
Okay, it's nice fur what it is. Impressive that you've made all of this over a couple of months with (I assume) little prior experience. I'm not really sure what justifying element you had in mind while making this other than the procedural monsters and being a The Thing videogame; there was SOMETHING there in the imagery of walking through dark corridors with the infected doctor, illuminating the path ahead with flamethrower bursts. The audio that was present did its job adequately enough, I won't complain about the lack of it fur movement or manipulating objects because that made the few sounds that were present leave far more of an impression. The procedurally-assembled monsters did surprise me a few times - one time, a ball of flesh with only a single leg ran at me down the medical bay, another time, the first one you encounter stretched all the way to the ceiling, which freaked me out fur a moment.
There were a lot of bugs, especially surrounding the backpack, elevators and starting a new game after dying. I've lost a couple of good runs from accidentally dropping my backpack and losing all of the items that were stored inside of it (I got infected during the escape sequence because I dropped my backpack and lost my flashlight, couldn't find the spare full flamethrower I dropped after accidentally hitting the button and killing the lights and ended up being too conservative with using my other one fur light. Another time, it ate my keycard and I went to kill the doctor fur a spare, only to find out I couldn't harm her after taking her with me.), it randomly vanished on me once shortly after putting it on - that must be what the second one is fur. The elevators can be activated while you're outside of them, and the one leading to the bomb control terminal doesn't close from the other side, which led to >>86546 . There's nothing to say about the hitbox and physics bugs.
Only the first two crab encounters and the monsters in the escape blackout felt like they posed any sort of threat of getting infected, and the furmer only do so because of how inaccurate the hunting rifle is. That's fine. The first Spetsnaz encounter varies from being somewhat threatening to being almost certain death without knowledge of where the second one is, depending on whether they're facing towards the blast door or not. I don't know whether that's fine, it's your call. I couldn't tell if limb integrity actually affected anything, but it doesn't REALLY matter whether it did or not, it's enough fur it to be visually present in the body menu. Is saline solution meant to be a "universal" bloodbag in this, or does it do nothing?
How much further are you planning on working on this? I don't see how much further something like this could be expanded without stuffing it full of more contrived "systems" to manage or turning it into a ""roguelike"" (Why? To what end? That SCAV Prototype game already looks it's doing the Plazma Burst roguevaniabornelikeemup concept). Also don't listen to that goodgamedesign faggot's suggestions, they all SUCK.
Replies: >>86571

>backpacks delete items when dropped
i don't know how i missed that. i just pushed an update so it should fix that, the elevator collision, and i moved the rifle to the dead guy's lap
>Is saline solution meant to be a "universal" bloodbag in this, or does it do nothing?
yes. it is compatible with any species at the cost of giving you less overall blood (saline does not contain red blood cells, it just helps stabilize blood pressure)
>How much further are you planning on working on this?
probably not too much. this project has consumed my life and i want to take a break

Vid-related spoils one of the endings.
There is currently a critical bug where the starting rifle and the hidden underground AK can not be shot unless you exit and click Continue. Some error about it being an object of type Nil.
>>86509
Difficult at first, but then easy once the controls and strategies are known. The most frustrating section was the introduction of the underground guards where you have no cover and must quickly switch off the keycard to start shooting back. Loading from the save state (exit and continue) also respawns all enemies, which I assume is intentional fur a perma-death style game.
I enjoyed the game enough to replay it a couple times after realizing, at the start of the game, that there are multiple endings.
I am glad you were able to make your vision real, as there is nothing easy about game development.

thanks fur reporting that. my backpack fix caused that, so now both should be fixed. it had to do with the logic fur whether or not to create a copy of an item or use an existing one, and the guns were using the base gun item template, which does not have a magazine item. rookie mistake on my end lel. just finished uploading an update that should fix that
>respawns all enemies

Headcrabs just shoot a couple times until they bleed out. Fur the Things, either explosives, or a puff of fire and then running is enough to conserve the flamethrower. Fur soldiers, peek from the top box and always aim fur the head. Fur healing, apply dressing first to the worst one and then start bandaging.
It doesn't seem difficult, but one mistake is sometimes enough to end your run, especially non-bullet injuries where infection is always fatal.

Femcelanon, you're the only other person I know who does stuff with the Source engine, but how feasible is it to make a new game in Source 1 (source 2 is pozzed)? I want to make a simple demo, not even a game, just a few mechanics I have in mind but I don't want to reinvent the wheel like movement/gunplay so I was thinking of modding HalfLife 2. Is it still possible or should I learn2code and use Godot fur 3d?

uhhh, i didn't know that option was unlocked at that point, may have to check that out. you can still technically get an ending after meeting her though
>>86787
i have never made a source mod so i can't say
>learn2code
if you are adding new mechanics, you are going to have to learn anyways. i think source used c++ instead of gdscript (basically python), which might make godot easier, but after using gdscript i have come to not like how implicit programming is hyped, as it often leads to errors at runtime instead of compile time (c++ will tell you your shit is broken befure you run it), though it can make some stuff like getting variables from nodes easier
Replies: >>86789
>>86788
I written C++ in the past, so I don't mind. But are you fur real that Source using C++ fur scripting? I thought it only used C++ fur the engine and scripting used a custom language. But if it's C++ that works fur me.
Nevermind, I confused it with gmod using Lua. Anyways, I will try this and maybe if I get stuck ask on a furum.

I don't know, how much would these aliens trade practicality fur visual ornamentation?); it depends on what exactly you're planning on doing with the character - Everything Is Writing.

Most do not, but there are some with genetic defects that make them more independent and thus less inclined to obey their queens. They are usually killed after being identified though. The drones are usually the ones that hold the real power, the queens are mostly the figureheads as they are more concerned with reproduction

Browsing through her music library to decide what to listen to

On an unrelated note this drawing was my attempt to free myself from the curse of spending too much time being a perfectionist by just trying to do something quicker and not caring as much about specific line quality or proportions. As a result her face is wide here because I would normally spend like 30m-1h agonizing over getting the face lines exactly correct and I didn't this time. I don't know why it normally takes me so long. Having to draw very zoomed in due to the small brush size perhaps doesn't help and drawing faces at angles is my bane but I will keep trying

Trips of extra misery. I hope you feel better soon, fren.

Did it turn her into a P-zombie? There was a man who was suicidal. Then he found out about a drug that destroys the mind and destroys consciousness, that would turn him into a P-zombie. He took the pill. He said nothing happened. But that's exactly what a P-zombie would say, now, isn't it? How could you tell the difference?

Well, I know I am not really in a position to be giving advice about how to art gud. But I like to take a sample of the main color then use the hue-saturation-value stuff to desaturate it and lighten it fur highlights, or desaturate it and darken it fur shadows. Fur the bit you've rendered in light green I'd probably acktchewally have started with a darker shade fur the broccoli floret part, but that's okay. I'm attempting to demonstrate using that color as an example. Make an irregular boundary between the lighter part and the shadowed part. I am assuming lighting from the upper right-ish. And then I use brushes to make little shapes of each area in the others, to break them up and give them a speckled sort of appearance, if that makes sense.

And I might, if I were feeling especially ambitious, try to make a partially transparent layer or three on top of it with black fur shadow and white fur light and maybe a li'l bit of Gaussian blur, because I'm lazy and not very good at this art stuff at all.

I try to leave the main color of whatever it is the same and use desaturated colors of the same hue fur both light and shadow fur shading. Just as the central item of interest in an image I try to do in brighter, more saturated colors, to draw the eye to them, and do the backgrounds in muted, desaturated colors to emphasize this.

Or if you are talking about the detailed texture of the broccoli florets, there is probably a Krita brush that does that. Or you could zoom in and use the round pixel brush in several sizes to make a dense area of very dark green flecked with lighter and darker dots, which is a lot of work. Maybe copy and paste that portion but when I try to do things like that it looks weird and bad. I think Krita can apply textures with the fill tool but I am not certain and probably not the best to ask about it. I am not very good at any of this. You draw far more gooder than me and it is probably very presumptive of me to try to answer questions at all here. I'm just trying to help, fren.

>what does symbol drawer means doe?

It's an artistic bad habit. Symbol drawing is thinking in terms symbols and drawing symbols instead of the shapes and furm and light that you see. I am very guilty of it and it's a difficult habit to break. To draw well, one of the things you need to learn to do is to break up the things you see into shapes and furm and light and shadow. Stop thinking "eye" or "hand" or "car" and start thinking of the shapes that make them up.

https://colourcow.com/symbol-drawing/ explains.

Depends, not all of them. The Queens are not cyborgs, their bodily differences are a result of mutation from their 'ascension'. Nodes only have two eyes and four limbs naturally but some undergo cybernetic or genetic augmentation to have more limbs/eyes in an attempt to emulate the Queens. The lesser races usually receive augmentations furcefully to fulfill certain purposes. The s'hal frown upon genetic augmentation but that does not stop some among them from doing so regardless.

Yeah, most often. When I inevitably make a game, I want to expand upon the damage types in Halo. You obviously have bullets do more damage to health and plasma does more damage to shields. But I was thinking of having armored enemies which would be weak to explosives and melee. Then you would have barriers, which are like energy shields but instead of having a certain amount of damage they take, they would have a certain amount of shots. So they would be extremely effective against slow firing weapons but weak against fast firing ones

How do you guys steady your hand better when you draw? Whenever I try to draw lines my hand shakes and the lines end up not very straight. Especially hard when its a single long line. I have never been a particularly dexterous person so it might just be a me problem. The only way I've had any success there is dragging my hand along the drawing pad to try and stabilize, but even that doesn't always work

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/is-anywheria-a-real-country-inhabited-by-upright-walking-animals
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i don't think so (as told and peer-reviewed by experts)

eh, i'm just conveniently and loosely referencing stuff from real life as so to make things a little easier, but there's gonna be no real real world connections. think of it loosely of what a realistic vision of zootopia would be (it would suck, nature kinda sucks if you analyze)

wall of text incoming (brace yourselves)

nah, i'm not smart enough to create a plausible anthro world right now. currently it's just an animal story with the opposite of a nice moral lesson
>>91054
i really wanna do urban maps, but right now i'm still tackling fundamental stuff. fur any sort of gameplay to happen i would need to code an AI fur atleast other vehicles, right now the priority is finishing the controller and making it as bug-proof as possible.

it's almost finished, yesterday i added crew death but i still need to properly tackle changing seats in case of loss of a crew role. it already works, but there are no animations so it looks weird, you just slowly slide to the seats.

after that, i'll add some temporary module repair mechanics. temporary because i want you to be able to roam freely so you gotta need to actually exit the tank to repair a little bit of the modules, because the premise is that if your tank gets too damaged, you just jump out of it and go find another one in the battlefield, and hope it works.

i've tested the online mode with Rev. it works, but there's no gameplay, it's basically just a demostrator like War Thunder's test drive mode...

No, I didn't thought much about it at the time, I made the logo some time ago fur fun and the design was made up on the spot, although I will try to get some more ideas based on this.

apparently i'm so anti-hmofa that i just woke up from a dream that i was watching a video that had a flat-color/kurzgesagt. it was a guy narrating a cautionary tale about how he regrets marrying an anthro fox woman because "they are stupid." she was an arctic fox, and they had a kid, but the kid was also stupid and didn't want to even speak english properly, so he ended up working at an HVAC company instead of going to college. the narrator said he had a mental breakdown because of this and it ended with him planning on murdering all the executives at his son's company
