Due to the low amount of other public Invidious instances, my server is getting a ridiculous amount of requests/network load.
For the past weeks, the network repeatedly reached 100% maximum capacity.
Consequently, I will upgrade the server specs again. The monthly cost for my server will rise from 200,- € per month to 250,- € per month.
Thanks for your continued support,
Weidenwiesel

Thanks to everyone who donated, you're awesome!

Quick update about the new backends on my Invidious instance.
I have now collected a huge set of backends to choose from. Currently only 10 are active but I have more on hold for when YouTube breaks things (which it will do and just did for 5 active backends yesterday, so I had to replace them).
Using all of these new backends will sky-rocket the monthly cost of my server by about another € 50 - 100 € (subject to change).
This also means that the monthly costs of my server (now at roughly 200 € / month) are now high enough that I cannot keep it running from my income alone.
For everyone who has donated this far, thanks so much. You are truly keeping this service alive!
Cheers

My Invidious instance has just gotten a long overdue overhaul.
With the help of other maintainers, I was able to successfully integrate multiple backends into my Invidious instance.
All of these backends are behind rotating IPs so blockage from YouTube is currently a thing of the past and video playback rate is at an record level high of almost 100%. Woohoo. Let's hope this holds for a while.
I want to take a moment to thank the Invidious developers and the other Invidious maintainers for their help and support, couldn't have done it without you :3
Also, thanks to everyone who has supported me in the past and keeps supporting me, you guys/gals are awesome. No, really.
Cheers,
Weidenwiesel

So yeah, YouTube had to break Invidious just before Christmas and I sadly don't have the time necessary to fix things until after Christmas, especially since fixing things this time will require major infrastructural changes and probably one day of work and a few days of testing.
I just don't have the time to do that right now, I'm sorry.
Expect my Invidious instance to be down for at least 2 weeks.
Sorry :(

A few words on the past month and my future plans for my services.
As you can see in the goal history, the donations are currently absolutely amazing. Again, thank you so much for your support <3
- August over-reached the goal by 83%
- September is at 72% already.
To adress the elephant in the room i.e. "what am I going to do with the surplus", I'm already thinking about improving several parts of my infrastructure.
I've already increased the RAM from 32 GiB to 48 GiB and will probably increase the network bandwith from 2 Gbps to 4 Gbps due to the fact that my Invidious instance is seeing high peaks.
I also want to host my own Matrix homeserver and maybe even get started in the Fediverse (i.e. Mastodon). Both available for everyone of course.
So stay tuned and thank you very much <3

My Invidious Instance is finally back online, I was able to successfully bypass blockage from YouTube by using several load-balanced HTTP proxies. Plesse note that DASH (including livestreams and downloads) is currently disabled due to the proxies not handling streaming media currectly. Will investigate that further.

As many already noticed, my invidious instance is currently nonfunctional due to a new blockage by YouTube. This blockage is unlike any before and it will take some time to find a fix. There are still instances that are unaffected, so I recommend using those in the meantime. I will keep you posted when there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Cheers
