The 4 Layer Model: A Universal Creativity Framework for the Post-AI Age

Authors/Creators

Description

The 4 Layer Model (4LM) presents a universal framework for understanding creative processes across all human
domains, categorizing creativity into four conceptual elements: 1. Seed, 2. Expansion, 3. Detail, and 4. Presentation.
The model is broadly applicable across creative domains, yielding the insight that 1. Seed and 4. Presentation are
heavily creative, while 2. Expansion and 3. Detail are consistently rote leaning. Throughout human history—from
prehistoric cave paintings to contemporary innovation—creativity has often been viewed as mystical or inexplicable.
This model addresses the longstanding gap by demystifying inspiration as a predictable, emergent structure with
scalable cross-domain applicability.

Empirical application to large language models (LLMs) validates the framework’s objectivity, yielding clarity
gains comparable to major LLM innovations. Historical precedents further show creative layers as identified by
the 4LM enduring automation, demonstrating the model’s predictive power. The 4LM offers pragmatic principles
for human-AI collaboration, guiding workforce realignment, a framework for cultural analysis and cross-domain
innovation, illuminating creativity’s enduring essence in a transformative era.
