At about 8.50pm on February 2 numerous 000 calls were received by NSW Fire and Rescue.
Acting Superintendent Kevin Smith said four trucks with 17 firefighters from both Orange and Bathurst arrived at the impacted block of units at the intersection of Cox Avenue and Bathurst Road shortly after the call came in.
"On the way to that incident, firefighters saw a large amount of smoke and flames coming from the roof of a second floor unit as they were responding," Mr Smith said.
"After arrival, crews quickly commenced firefighting operations and search and rescue operations and within 17 minutes of arriving had been able to get the fire under control and complete their initial search and rescue operations."
One unit was "totally destroyed" by the fire.
Fire and Rescue were supported by NSW Police and NSW Ambulance Service, with no injuries reported.
"Firefighters on scene conducted atmospheric monitoring and ventilated the smoke from the remaining units, with all other occupants of the unaffected units allowed to return shortly after the fire was extinguished and firefighting operations were completed," Mr Smith added.
"The cause of the fire is still yet to be determined. "
