pkg(scope): Xiaomi Hyper OS 2, can’t set custom background #1110

Describe the problem

I’ve used uad-ng on a Xiaomi 14, if worked amazingly. The only problem I notice is that I’m unable to set a custom background from the OS settings interface: it loads the image then it gets stuck analzying depth effect, therefore I cannot tap on the confirm button to set the wallpaper.

You have a solution?

Unfortunately I don’t know which package is responsible for that feature so I cannot suggest a whitelisting of the package. Hope some knows better.

Provide logs

I’m gonna attach the log files once I have access to the device again, anyways I uninstalled all and only the recommended packages.

There some packages that show in my Xiaomi Redmi 13 Hyper OS 1.0.

com.miui.miwallpaper.overlay
com.miui.miwallpaper.overlay.customize

These are the safe options that show to me.

Another package in Advanced is
com.android.thememanager

MIUI Themes (manager)
Xiaomi seems to love confusing package names.
Lets you select and apply themes provided by Xiaomi.
NOTE: Disabling will break the ability to change the lock-screen wallpaper and ringtones in the OEM clock app.
Has a lot trackers. Running in the background.

One package that show as Expert is
com.miui.miwallpaper

Mi Wallpaper
Removing this might make it impossible to set a lock or home wallpaper, resulting in a black solid wallpaper.
Note: it may also result in longer boot times (~15s) because the system try to call miwallpaper during boot

The question is, can you set a wallpaper as long its not from the OS, or do you have no wallpaper?

You can check the disabled or uninstalled apps in uad to see if check with anyone.

I can actually set wallpapers from the default collection and set the phone themes, the only case that triggers this behaviour is adding a custom wallpaper loading a picture from the gallery from the default wallpaper selection screen. It gets stuck at this "depth mapping" moment and I cannot set the custom wallpaper

Heyo, I just had this error a few hours ago and found the culprit. It's com.xiaomi.aicr, the MI AI engine. My thoughts is the depth analysis effect requires the AI engine and hence it gets stuck. After reinstalling I could set wallpapers again.

finally checked. excluding com.xiaomi.aicr from the uninstalling allows the phone to change wallpapers correctly.
