Tens of thousands of people are expected to descend on the South Bay on Super Bowl Week - that means extra people and extra traffic.

“It’s gonna be hectic for sure,” said Layota, a San Jose resident.

Layota And Selena are planning to use public transportation to get around.

“It’s a vibe on BART and Caltrain. Everyone’s there for the same purpose so it’s going to be a great time,” Layota said.

“Public transportation it’s a vibe, you get to meet new people, a lot of people from here who are coming just for Super Bowl,” Selena said.

More than 25,000 fans are expected to use VTA to get in and out of Levi's Stadium on Super Bowl Sunday.

The transportation agency is hoping its trains and buses will be packed all week long.

The big recommendation is to “prepare, prepare and plan ahead.” For example, those staying at one of the many hotels near the San Jose Convention Center will board the green line to the Lick Mill Station.

The Great America Station is closed for security reasons, and is one of the many closures already in effect. Tasman Drive near Levi's is closed as crews work to construct a high security zone around the stadium.

And it's not just Santa Clara.

San Jose police have listed planned street closures for the downtown area from Jan. 31 to Feb. 9.

The city is planning several events leading up to the Super Bowl, including concerts at City Hall and San Pedro Super Fest.

The Old Wagon Saloon and Grill is expecting big crowds.

“We have to have all hands on deck, so all the staff will be here, there will be plenty of overtime,” said Tina, co-owner of the restaurant.

For customers, she recommends using a rideshare company or public transportation.

“I would not drive, driving is going to be a mess here. Parking is going to be crazy,” Tina said.

Most public garages downtown will be open, but it may be tough to find a spot. The Convention Center garage will be closed for most of the week.

At Hapa's Brewing Company, right by the SAP Center, they're planning a big Super Bowl Block Party on Wednesday and Thursday, and they've also planning for parking. “What is the suggestion for customers as far as parking? That’s always the topic of conversation here in the Bay Area, we have a huge parking lot, we’re right by San Jose Diridon, there’s tons of parking,” said Derek Tam, co-owner of Haba’s Brewing Company.
