Reviews

Truly unfortunate that this one never got a full release, as what did get released is very good. If I recall correctly, Scythe X was originally intended to be an episodic release, but only the first episode ever saw the light of day. What we did get is a very polished set of maps in the traditional techbase style but with new textures and music. There's a very brief glimpse of what could have been at the end of the last map, where the transition into the next episode visually begins to take place along with the introduction of some new enemy types.

Tragically unfinished, Scythe X was nevertheless highly influential on early-to-mid 2010s WADs such as Community Chest 4, Vanguard, Rush and Valiant. How could it not be, with sleek visuals, great bespoke music and short and sweet levels of fast paced action?
