Abstract

This paper proposes a method for designing and implementing an IoT-Enabled Energy Management System for low-voltage electrical cabinets based on an open IoT Gateway solution. The gateway solution utilizes open-source operating systems and open hardware, supporting various network interfaces. It enables communication between different devices within the low-voltage electrical cabinets and the Internet. Consequently, this gateway solution is cost-effective, easily expandable with software based on the open-source Linux operating system, and allows for straightforward installation of multiple protocol architectures for different connectivity technologies. The implementation and testing results of our solution with an open IoT gateway for two protocols, MODBUS and MQTT, demonstrate practical compliance with specified requirements.
