Here is some real pettiness lol. In the Ukrainian Wikipedia entry for Borscht it’s listed as a Ukrainian, Belarusian, Polish, Lithuanian and Jewish national dish (not in alphabetical order). In the Russian Wikipedia entry it’s listed as being part of the Belarusian, Lithuanian, Moldavian, Polish, Romanian, Russian and Ukrainian national cuisine (in alphabetical order). The Russian entry includes its origin in Kievan Rus and the UNESCO designation. Even Stalin’s Soviet Food Bible included a specific recipe for Ukrainian Borscht.
