The Science of Offering Water to the Sun
It changed my belief; it can transform yours
I am not agnostic. I believe in the existence of God. Sometimes visit temples. I am God-fearing also but never indulge in blind belief.
I am scientific. Always believe in reason.
But my friend Arvind is different. He is absolutely driven by faith. Arvind believes in rituals and God men. He frequents temples, Ashrams (hermitages), and holy men.
Dhauli Hillock & River Daya
On the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India is a hillock Dhauli, where Magadha emperor Ashoka fought a vicious battle over two millennia ago. Many fighters perished in the battle. The water of Daya River flowing nearby turned red with human blood.
The horrors of bloodshed turned emperor Ashok to a pacifist. He adopted Buddhism and shunned conquests for good. Japanese government has constructed a magnificent monastery atop Dhauli.
Dhauli turned Chandashok (devil Ashok) into Dharmashok (pious Ashok), hence deemed as a symbol of peace.
Many Ashrams (hermitages) dot the banks of Daya river downstream. Daya Baba Ashram (hermitage of a kind god man) is one such place.
