>An Ural truck loaded with Russians and jammers survives attack by FPV drones due to but was destroyed by 155 mm artillery DPICM. This proves that FPV drones aren't that effective unlike what propaganda of both sides makes you think, but artillery is still king. And the Russians inability to achieve air superiority is what's causing all the losses and stagnation on the battlefield since the start of the war If the US or NATO were fighting in this war, air superiority would have been achieved via SEAD and DEAD and all the artillery positions would have been wiped out before the ground assault begins.

Uncontacted tribe security: Here's a hypothetical: >Anthropological party wants to enter an uncontacted tribe's territory in a dense jungle. (Imagine The Brazilian Rainforest) >This tribe is extremely hostile towards outsiders. though some friendly interactions were recorded in the past. >The party asks you to join them and be in charge of security >Your job is to keep everyone alive if the tribe chooses violence >Security is limited to you and maybe a single other person, the rest of the party are about 6-8 anthropologists, academics and maybe a local or two (the locals can't speak the tribe's language) >You can bring whatever you like provided you can carry it yourself >Previous contact with the tribe suggest around 12-30 fighting-aged men armed with bows, effective range is low relative to modern bows but if you're within range, they're good shots >Hostile contact usually comes in one of two flavors, either a show of force to keep you away from their territory or an ambush from the trees. (former is more common than the latter) >HARMING A TRIBESMAN IS AN ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT. There are no certainties about the Tribe's size and any death of a tribesman may be disastrous to the point of extinction. What do you do? What are you bringing with you? what's the plan? I don't remember how we came to it, but my dad and I have been talking about uncontacted tribes these past couple of days. From what little I've seen/heard about anthropologists trying to contact them, there's almost never any thought going into security beyond "let's try keeping our distance", "offer gifts immediately" and "worst case scenario we got a local with a hunting rifle". Somehow it doesn't sit right with me but I'm having trouble coming up with what I would have done differently.

Expanded diameter is meaningless: People frequently nitpick over the final diameter of hollowpoints recovered from gel. Expanded diameter has almost no impact on terminal performance because most of the improvement over FMJ comes from the geometric change from a round nose to wide and relatively flat nosed expanded hollowpoint bullet. When a hollowpoint demonstrates large expanded diameter, the edges of the petals are usually very rounded, and thus don't really improve performance that much because they will tend to just push tissue aside instead of cutting it. The ideal hollowpoint is one that expands consistently from a variety of barrel lengths, achieves the upper end of penetration or even exceeds FBI specs (18"-20") to ensure barrier performance, functions reliably, is accurate, hits to the same point of impact as your training/stockpile ammunition, and has wide availability without supply chain issues. The number displayed on calipers when measuring the expanded bullet should way at the very bottom of your priorities in selecting defensive ammo.

Why hasn't this replaced all current AR designs and adopted as the M4A2? Seems like a no brainer

Up to 8 MEKO A-200 for German navy: industry sources say a preliminary contract will be signed soon so that TKMS can start with construction, the company says they can deliver by 2029 it's possible this will replace the design by Damen for the F126 which is already delayed and had cost overruns it's also possible NVL will take over the Damen design, or that both will be procured in parallel to ensure delivery by 2029 the TKMS design is based on what was offered to Australia, so it's ready (Australia chose the upgraded Mogami instead) source: https://www.hartpunkt.de/bei-scheitern-von-f126-projekt-bis-zu-acht-meko-a-200-fuer-die-deutsche-marine-in-planung/

Terminator Police Station Aftermath: It's 1984 and a lone gunman commits the deadliest assault on a police precinct in history. 17 death and who knows how many severely injured. Witness reports state that the gunman shrugged off several bullets during the shootout. What is the police, state and government response and how is it reported by the press? What sort of firepower is issued to those taking part in the manhunt?

Why does .357SIG exist?: It's almost identical to 9mm +p+ and is built on the exact same guns. It operates at lower pressure, but 9mm has a smaller case diameter, and thus allows more chamber wall thickness, making the pressure difference irrelevant. There's literally no point to it.

When you guys were deployed and did a tour in an active warzone, was the experience a little like cabin fever? Is the whole shtick of "brothers in arms getting closer" bullshit that Hollywood peddles realistic or did you all slowly hate each other as your deployments went on?
