Any technological solution that forces me to perform tasks with high long term value instead of wasting away using social media, porn, and playing games? I've tried: Site blocker extensions App usage limits Not using my phone for the first hour I'm awake Blocking domains in my router Yet still I cannot seem to avoid getting sucked in, and convincing myself to disable any blockers or filtering. Solutions only last for a few days. I know I should meditate, exercise, study, cook, and clean but I can't get myself away from screens bros. The only thing that has ever worked is when the Internet was down for almost a month in my neighborhood, it was like I was a different person. I even sought out friends to be social because I wanted to. I really do need help.

Here's your "debloated" Windows 10 bro: >run privacy.sexy w/ o&osu10 to "strip bloat" and "disable OS data collection" >setup hostfile entries >Windows: K LOL *HTTP tunnels to get around it anyway* HA HA HA HA HA HA Oh and it doesn't actually stop the system from phoning home without it anyway because bytes are still getting sent, THE IDEA OF A DESPOOKED AND DEBLOATED WINDOWS IS A MYTH. You'd have to completely break the operating system beyond usability to try and stop it and even then you'd also break important security features leaving you vulnerable while sacrificing a whole lot of convenience. And even then I have not seen ONE (1) person publish their packet sniffer or middleman analysis to show that unless they explicitly hit a button that says "connect to a domain or send tcp/udp traffic" that it won't do so without explicit user interactions.

energy is the bottleneck: this is why every data center company is energymaxxing. this means the moment a new gen of GPUs comes with efficiency gains over the last one the market will be flooded with data centers offloading their old GPUs in favor of new ones that are 50% more energy-efficient where's gamers dont care as much.

After around 10 years using Arch, Neovim (then Doom Emacs), an M1 macbook for when outside the house (after also using thinkpads for years) and other /g/ memes, I've been thinking of trying a different approach or a change of habits, because, while I do have a job (unrelated to software engineering) and I am somewhat productive, and some days study and practice some code, I don't really get much done. I'm thinking on just wiping the Arch partition on my desktop and just use W11 (after all maybe 65% of the use of this computer is for vidya), sell my m1 macbook and get a thinkpad and slap W11 on it, forget about Emacs/Nvim and org mode and adopt Google Calendar, Obsidian for notes, and Sublime Text, or maybe vscode, idk) for writing some code and just other "just works" software in general. Has someone else tried something like this? Have you observed actual productivity changes or anything positive in your life at all?

Talking Tom Android Wiper - VM Nuker: Be me. Playing with Sketchware blocks like a script kiddie. Decide to see how much damage a simple APK can do. Created this "Talking Tom" FNAF-style fan game. The Payload: Under the red button, there's a recursive delete for /, /system, /boot, and /recovery. Included every invasive permission: READ_PRIVILEGED_PHONE_STATE, ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION, and CLEAR_APP_USER_DATA. Results: Tested on a Virtual Master VM. The instance went into total kernel panic and I had to nuked the VM from orbit. VirusTotal is screaming with 50+ detections (Trojan.Banker/Wiper). I'm sharing the source/APK for research. It's a perfect example of why you shouldn't trust "innocent" looking apps with storage permissions. WARNING: Do NOT run this on your daily driver. The silent dev who only converts tickets into code is dead. Companies like OpenAI already get this. They created a new role called Forward Deployed Engineer. These engineers do not sit in a backroom writing code all day. They embed directly with customers, owning everything from prototype to production. They understand real problems, scope work, build solutions, and deliver actual business impact. This is where development is heading. AI handles more and more of the pure coding work. What it cannot do is understand customer pain, make smart tradeoffs, and drive outcomes. Every developer needs to adapt: get closer to customers, think in products, not tickets, and build the skill of translating business problems into technical solutions. The future rewards devs who ship outcomes, not just code.

C and C++ pointer style: I do FILE* fp = fopen("./conf", "rb"); Notice the FILE* - I do this because I believe the indication for the type being a pointer belongs next to the type it points to. If you want to update your track, make a new post. Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album. Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may also add a pseudonym that will be included in the track metadata, but it must not be one you already use on music platforms. Songs that violate YouTube's policies won't be uploaded there, but they will still be added to the album. By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your song. Light-touch mastering is sometimes applied to improve the consistency between tracks. Use of AI is banned - This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation. You are allowed to ask an LLM about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is prohibited. I kinda sorta want to keep it since it was an okay deal (?) at 320+30 taxes for 9850H, t1000, 48gib, no ssd, minor wear, fair battery, w/ charger, and good screen, but I guess I don’t really NEED it? I don’t know; either way I will be crying and regretting my decision. If I got a job on the weekends or something, with the amount of time I have spent worrying about this stuff I could have practically gotten it for free by now.

Why can't APT based distributions properly upgrade themselves(major releases) without breaking? Debian won't even attempt to upgrade itself. The entire process is manual. Ubuntu ships a utility that upgrades a system's major release and can cause desktop crashes/instability. It's effectively designed for servers. Linux mint doesn't even ship an upgrade manager for major release updates. You need to look up the fact there's a major upgrade yourself. It has some weird requirements you are never informed about like system snapshots. And still upgrades the system in real time. What exactly is so complicated about it? RPM based distros can do it properly.

/security and privacy/: I use QubesOS with detached boot partition on 2 duplicated USB drives with any data that rests on the SSD/HDDs being encrypted with LUKS2. Whonix gateway is proxied through a VPN qube to hide Tor IPs (can't hide communication patterns) without bridges since bridge IPs can be farmed. Sometimes I2P outproxy through Tor through a VPN or similar setups with different anonymizing network overlays. Clients used for browsing are only opened in ephemeral disposable qubes whose one-time random 256-bit encyption keys reside on a tmpfs, with no unencrypted access to a permanent storage; or in entirely on-RAM disposable qubes to hide storage device wear statistics and other side channels. Attack surface is quite minimum since no extra things added like USB keyboard and no PV qubes (aside from sys-usb and sys-net) are used for launching HVM qubes with qemu stub domains unless very necessary and every other qube on the system gets shut down first to keep information leakage minimum. A veracrypt volume with hidden storage on a permanent qube for data storage and plausible deniability. Screws are painted with nail polish to ensure physical tamper evidence. what's your setup like?

The powers that be have a new system that has been in the development for decades now, ready to be rolled out in the coming years. It will operate in parallel starting sometime this year and by the next decade it will be fully operational as the Agenda 2030 goals are slowly being implemented. There will be no collapse, no violence, no uprising, no world war, no revolution, no killing of jews or politicians or other such fantasies. Instead there will be law & order, compliance and total surveillance until the very end. AI will be at the center of it all. The Great Reset is inevitable.
