well i’m sobbing

I want every goddamn trf to have this screenshot lasered onto their retinas forever
As heartbreaking as it is, this is why I'm determined to stay alive as best I can. I want to be a trans man who can say I made it, for younger trans people to meet and know it will be okay.
that's a really great goal <3
@swamp-deity Thanks. For what it's worth, when I get notifications for this, it gives me more motivation and hope!
Partly why i want to get old and be an 80 or 90 years old enby someday. I was always like this it will never change.
also AIDS. they weren't treated seriously by doctors, the combined "only "males" can have it" and "who cares let the queers die" attitudes kind of guaranteed death for any trans man who got it. and no one talks about it except the survivors who had to watch their friends die.
Lou Sullivan
@thecourtofcaligula "You told me I couldn't live as a gay man but now I am going to die like one" is such a heart-rending quote
@a-wonderful-use-of-server-space I was actually sobbing my eyes out😢
This is especially tough to see after that reel on insta of a trans guy essentially chastising other passing trans men for supposedly not being involved enough in activism, claiming that if you look at stone wall pictures you won't see any and that's because they'd abandoned the community back then, went viral and got validated all around. Like just seeing it I knew it was bs but hearing from someone whose actual friends actually died how big of a load of bs it is makes it painful
To say that stonewall was devoid of trans men is ridiculously ignorant. Very telling they only know about the concept of stonewall and 0 more queer history... Disgusting :/
@this-is-transgynephobia Yeah also just the sentence "passing trans men arent visibly a part of stonewall" is such a bleakly funny statement because, like, i can think of a few reasons why passing trans men wouldnt make their transness visible and public enough to be big names to this day. One of which having to do with them being legally classified as women and therefore having a certain number of civil rights to lose if outed. Or as that post said being tracked back down by abusive family members/exs. It really says something about how normalized it is to just sincerly and wholeheartedly despise trans men/mascs that so many people immediatly assume that the vast majority of them were some kinds of privileged cowards who merely chose to not be activists because they couldnt be bothered to in the context of the fucking 70's. Where's that post that says that silence from a demographic should make you worry about them instead of assuming they didnt exist or were sitting on their asses ?
I saw the reel you're talking about too! Sorry for butting in, I'm just so glad someone else saw this nonsense! Because it STARTED out as "There aren't any out there and the black trans women told me they scurry away because they're scared" and I thought "oh, maybe this'll address the way we're often ostracized by our community, which is very important and good to bring up!" AND THEN THIS MFER MAKES THE U-TURN OF THE CENTURY?! It genuinely enraged me, I know it's "just a reel" but he was so weirdly dismissive of the struggles of his brethren, and throughout his whole video he kept talking about and focusing on "passing trans men" not doing enough (how they should be the ones protecting the women etc. Etc.) and it was just so frustrating to hear this take because it really turns into treating trans men like we're a part of cis manhood, ignoring the trans aspect to turn us into "protectors" (meat shields) who need to earn their keep. Like dude, can you maybe guess WHY there aren't many elders from that time left?? Let's put on our thinking caps now.
Aight someone like my comment so I can come back to these absolute bangers, cuz tumblr won’t let me archive it directly
There was a movie about it. Not directly but similar to give context. Like boys don't cry although thats from the 90s
Do u remember what the title is?
@coralineinwonderland Yep its "Boys dont cry" 1999 film
Oh shit. Trigger warning to anyone who watches this movie it has scenes of violence and SA so be aware before you watch
Why is this tumblr post not rbed and also blurred out though? Am I missing something?
Maybe the op deleted it and this poster wanted to respect their privacy but still felt it was important? Just a guess, but idk what else it could be
I found a screenshot of it on twt with the username blurred out for safety and wasn’t able to find the original
@sea-puppy This isn't a post with a safety concern though???
I'm GenX. I can count the number of others ive met like me on the fingers of one hand. 😭
that's so fucking sad man
almost like male privilege goes beyond your “idenitity” or sum
