Toward the progress, development and improvement of plasma materials science

The Plasma Materials Science Award was established in 1997 with the aim of bringing together industrial, government, and academic researchers, in addition to engineers in the field of plasma materials science and technology in Japan, to meet the demands of the times and academic developments in this new area. It was founded to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the 153rd Committee on Plasma Materials Science by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, and gives honorable recognition to individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions to research and development in the plasma materials science field in Japan.
In 2020, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Joint Usage/Joint Research Center, Center for Low-temperature Plasma Sciences, Nagoya University, has taken over responsibility for the awarding organization.
The Plasma Material Science Hall of Fame Prize has been newly established in addition to the domestic Plasma Materials Science Award to promote international developments in the field and to encourage researchers and research groups with outstanding achievements and contributions to the field of plasma materials science.
