Several new businesses opened their doors to the Merced community in 2025 — and even more are on the way.
From new restaurants to well-known retailers, a variety of storefronts are preparing to welcome customers soon.
Here’s a look at what’s coming to Merced in 2026, along with their expected opening dates:
When is the new Starbucks opening in Merced?
Starbucks is brewing up another location in Merced.
The popular coffee chain is known for its handcrafted coffee drinks, signature pastries and branded merchandise including mugs and tumblers.
A Starbucks spokesperson confirmed that the new coffee shop will open at 1285 West Yosemite Ave. in Merced.
The Starbucks store is expected to open in the spring of 2026, although an exact date had yet to be announced as of Tuesday, Jan. 6.
What is Ambition Vintage coming to Merced?
A popular vintage clothing shop is expanding to Merced.
Queer-owned Ambition Vintage has gained a reputation in Modesto for its curated collection of pieces from the 1990s and 2000s. Now it’s opening its second location in Merced.
According to owner Megan Knoll, Ambition Vintage will open at 1573 West 18th St. in Merced.
The clothing store’s opening day is Friday, Feb. 13, with store hours from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
When is Ulta Beauty opening in Merced?
Ulta Beauty — known for its wide selection of cosmetics, skincare, haircare, fragrances, wellness products and salon services — is coming to Merced.
The new store will be located in the Shoppes at Merced at 3176 R St.
From stylists to sales associates, Ulta Beauty had several job openings available on its website as of Tuesday.
According to city officials, Ulta Beauty is expected to open in February.
Is Five Below opening soon in Merced?
Five Below, a popular discount retailer known for its trendy and affordable finds, is opening a new store in Merced.
The store will be located at the new Shoppes at Merced development next to the Marketplace at Merced on R Street.
Five Below caters primarily to pre-teens and teens, offering a wide range of fun and fashionable products priced between $1 and $5, according to the company’s website.
As of Tuesday, the company was hiring for positions at the Merced location.
City officials said the store is expected to open in February.
When will Rack Room Shoes open?
A Rack Room Shoes is slated to open in Merced.
The American footwear retailer sells trendy athletic, comfort and dress shoes, carrying popular brands as well as its own private labels.
The new store will open at 3148 R St. in Merced, in the Shoppes at Merced shopping center.
According to city officials, the shoe store is expected to open in February.
What other businesses are opening in Merced?
Several other businesses — ranging from fast-food restaurants to grocery stores — are planning to open in Merced.
Among those expected to arrive are Angry Chickz, Vallarta Supermarkets, Pollo Campero, Raising Cane’s and Poki Bowl.
However, opening dates had not yet been announced for those stores and eateries as of Tuesday, according to city officials.
