All Kindle e-readers from the 10th to the 12th generation are experiencing a major bug for new and existing users trying to log in to their Kindle accounts. If a Kindle e-reader has a device name with an emoji, it’s in a state of disarray, and it becomes almost impossible to remedy.
If a Kindle e-reader has an emoji in its device name, the home screen will display the default person under a tree, reading a Kindle. The only thing that is possible to do is read existing books and download new books from the library section, but the home screen lacks any recommended reading or book recommendations. Send to Kindle also does not work with the Kindle in this state. You cannot register the Kindle when it has this bug.
To fix this bug or to test it out for yourself, you can visit the Manage Your Devices page on the Amazon website and select your Kindle device. If you want your Kindle to work as it should, remove the emoji from your device name. Then add a new emoji and reboot your Kindle to see the bug for yourself.
Amazon will likely fix this bug in the coming weeks, since many people are having issues with new Kindle e-readers, those purchased from 3rd-party websites, and even refurbished ones that haven’t been properly wiped clean of all data.
