Chronology
EVO 2013 is the 2013 installment of Evolution, the annual world fighting game championships. Super Smash Bros. Melee returned as a main stage game for the first time since 2007 as it won a competition and became a fundraising event, joining the likes of Super Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and Persona 4 Arena on the main stage at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. For the Top 8, Prog was joined on commentary by legendary Street Fighter caster James Chen.
The tournament was notable for Wobbles' stellar performance, tearing through winners bracket before finally falling to Mango in two sets in grand finals to finish second, after which he entered a semi-retired state. Mango had a remarkable bracket run of his own, losing only two games in seven consecutive set wins in losers bracket over the likes of SFAT, Ice, Dr. PeePee, Armada, Hungrybox and finally Wobbles to win what was the largest Melee tournament at the time.
