Ocala Urban Legends?
I love hearing about urban legends and ghost stories and stuff like that. I wanna know if their is some here. Obviously the Ocala National Park is known for it's paranormal activities and missing people. But let's branch out a bit. Tell me about some more crypids sorta stuff. More than just in the National Park. I am very interested in hearing about them.
Out in the forest you can hear a helicopter that supposedly went missing in the forest and was never found. The old key west building that is closed and falling apart outside the silver springs park across from silber springs pizza, people have said they have seen a women standing in the window. 7 sisters inn And apprentley east 40 you might see a man in black walking down the road and then will disappear.
Moss Man in the area of Camp Kiwanis , a old war pilot went down in a training op and was never seen again and is known to take to the camp after the lights are out and give good scare to anyone unfortunate to be out and about , he's known to be completely covered in moss , hence the name moss man .
I saw him once as a kid at summer camp in the late 90s , he was outside our bunk window and was staring into our room I was about 10 ft from the big window that was open and just had a screen in it and he never made a sound , fucking creepy as shit
7 sisters inn is supposedly haunted (it was sold and now some other name I think)
The north east corner of the downtown square, there's a building across SR 40. There's an underground tunnel from that building to the tall gray building a block NE from it.
They said it was Haunted because they were losing business and by saying it was they tried to get customers
Not exactly urban legend, but there's always Ma Barker's house in Ocklawaha.
I’ve heard that there are drug labs in the Ocala national forest and people who randomly happen upon these labs are the ones that are found murdered….that’s the rumor that I’ve heard since high school about this area. The only other spooky paranormal thing over heard close to this area is the white lady on I4 near Sanford by lake Monroe.
I wish I could remember in better detail, but there is a ghost story about Fort King. A young Indian girl fell in love with a soldier who ended up dying in battle. She grieved herself to death and supposedly, her ghost still haunts the woods around the fort, looking for her dead lover. One of the park rangers that works at Fort King told me the story when I visited the park. He told it in much better detail than I did and I may have some of the details wrong, but there is supposed to be a ghost there.
Also, some people I used to know a long time ago swear that they encountered the Skunk Ape/Big Foot out in the woods under the Eureka Bridge.
Nah. That wasn't a skunk ape or Bigfoot. Its my first wife.
Legend has it that there’s something to do in Ocala…
I heard theres a serial killer that hunts over near lilian bryant park.
The national park is where the rainbow people gather, do drugs and murder, spoooookkkkyyyy
It’s like Burning Man without the burning. They’re also harmless.
I understand the forest is haunted, don’t know which one. But there used to be a town there that is long gone but people have written in various forums about hearing things. Plus there are a few abandoned farm houses in the forest that give people that creepies.
Legend has it that Highlands baptist church on e fort king and 36th ave has a tunnel that goes under 36th to gated house across the street.
The ONF wolf pack I have been told and I'm keen to believe it's true. From what I remember there was a lone wolf pack hold up in the ONF for 100 or so years, and when the coyotes came back they decided to start hunting them and got really good at it. All I know is the coyote packs calling to each other is common, but the one time I heard a wolf like howl I did not hear a coyote call for the rest of the night.
I forgot to mention, I heard the historic Ritz Carlton on the boulevard is hunted. I believe It's now a living facility for veterans. But apprently I believe it was the late 20s early 30s a fire happened and it killed some of the guests and now it's hunted by them.
Military bombing practice runs take place in the National forest. Yeah, right.
always a mob connection
If you are looking for paranormal stuff, look at this. I have a friend who is a paranormal investigator who sent me this when I came down to spend time with dad. The map linked in there is mostly cemeteries, which are not nearly as fun as buildings.
I've researched a supposed dark man, and I'm pretty sure we've seen him out there jeeping. I've also seen random green flashes almost like flares I'm the middle of literally nowhere. The scariest one that gives me chills thinking of it, my friend has a property in the forest, we were out there on mini bikes and a golf cart. Something wound up blowing up to the right of us far away but enough to shake the ground (we were facing the bomb range and it wasn't from that direction) and we left cause we all felt weird. Otw back we had stopped it was pitch black essentially, I looked behind me, caught something white as snow maybe 100+ feet away, and I estimate a figure 8-9 foot tall was hiding behind a tree and fucking disappeared. I genuinely was disturbed I didn't believe that skin walker shit but idk wtf that thing was...
