The draft MUST be the #1 issue for any activist, or really anyone who cares about something other than his next meal or the next level in a video game he's going to beat.

Because, what could possibly deserve our focus more, while we live in a world in which the lives of 50% of the population literally don't matter? To be honest, it's somewhat less than that because there are age restrictions, but still; everyone born with a penis was or will be inside the "sacrifice age" (what the media manipulatively calls "fighting age males") at some point (unless he dies early). And if "his" country just so happens to be involved in a war at the time, he becomes worth as much as a cockroach. Literally that is what his life turns into - the desperate attempt to run and hide, in order to prevent getting brutally exterminated. This seems like an issue that requires immediate attention and that we absolutely cannot allow ourselves to be distracted from.

We already lack the draft for 50% of the population - the female one. That particular group can live completely without worry at least in terms of this issue. Though some people are fighting hard to change that (for the worse, of course), but even then, it's with a bunch of "ifs and buts" (eg. you can just have a kid to avoid getting dragged). So what's preventing us from treating the other 50% of the population similarly, as well? Only our beliefs, convictions, attitudes and assumptions that have been infused into us by decades of propaganda. For all the talk about progressive politics, equality, sustainability, human rights, democracy, and countless other buzzwords - we haven't yet mustered the courage (?) to install a basic right to life for the penised half of the population.
