📣 TW: healing wounds Our beautiful girl Ani is recovering from her emergency amputation, and the leishmaniasis lesions are healing. The wounds are still hard to see, but she's not in any pain, and our vets are optimistic about her recovery. Ani is a balm for the soul this winter. #animalrescue

A delightful bit of news from today is that Dr. Yasin and several of our vet techs traveled up to Parwan today. Muffin, Cookie, and Biscuit have all had nice hoof trims and checkups, and though their coats may not be the most fashionable, they are full of warmth and love.

The number of animals surrendered to us by former owners or reported to us as abandoned, injured, or ill on the street has been going up daily since the first of the year. Some have a chance, many do not. Murphy is one that might have a chance, but we still have not been able to touch him.

Mama Toffee and her babies, Nino and Nitro, arrived yesterday. Toffee has partially healed wounds and the pups are a bit thin, they all slept well, are eating and playing, in a warm room. Tinley is doing well, and Gigi is slowing gaining weight, we'll have more updates on them later today! #KSAR

It's a long Thursday night. We have had 4 canine emergency cases, 1 critical feline patient, on top of the critical care and post-op patients already in our clinic. One of the dogs is this little girl Tinley, found in Parwan province today by Ramin, mistreated, abused, with a rope around her neck.

Ramin drove her back down to the main clinic in Kabul. She's thin and scared, but has had her first checkup and hot meal, and will hopefully sleep soundly tonight. Our vets and clinic staff will be attending to the other cases and patients til morning - from babies to elderly animals.

We'll be calling in off-duty clinic staff and putting all our shelter staff on call to assist with pickups through the night. This might be a night when we end up ordering pizza at 1am, to quickly shove food in between caring for the little souls in our care. Send these animals your love tonight.

Gigi came to us 48 hours ago, we are grateful to the people who report animals to us. Compassion spreads! She's about 18 months old, her clipped ear shows us that she was spayed in the TNVR that operated until 2024. Gigi has since developed mange, skin infections and arrived to us malnourished.

We have implemented a refeeding diet to safely get weight back on her without organ failure. She has wounds from abuse and hypothermia covering her body. Despite this, she's still sweet and trusting, we tread carefully and slowly. Not all survivor dogs are as trusting, but we don't give up on them.

Right now our clinics are full and our veterinarians and clinic staff are working around the clock to care for the bodies and souls that keep pouring in. Please keep helping us. #KSAR #animalrescue #allpawsmatter #dogsofbluesky

❤️ Thank you for helping to fund Bunny's 2025 medical care! ❤️ Bunny came to us, in Kabul, on 2021 with severe bone deformations and malnutrition. After months of care, we flew him to Vancouver, and in 2022 he was placed in a home with a very experienced behaviorist who has helped him to flourish.

He lives a happy and comfortable life now, but his care includes routine pain management medications, vitamin supplements, and weekly hydrotherapy sessions. #KSAR has committed to cover these, because the adopter would otherwise not be able to keep him. #animalrescue #allpawsmatter #dogsofbluesky

Haku and Briney, 3 month old siblings, are thriving right now. Puppyhood is dangerous here, but they're warm, safe and together. Keeping their tummies full through winter starts now, and we have alot tummies! Less than $20 feeds one of our animals for a month - less than a dollar a day.

Yesterday we brought in several older dogs in critical care and there's been an inundation of surrendered, abandoned, or injured street cats. As a bright spot in the day, baby Sheringul has discovered she loves toasted chickpeas! 😋

🐾 TW: healing wounds 🐾 Ani has been with us now for 10 days, and she is visibly happier and more comfortable. This is despite emergency surgeries to correct a partial gastric torsion, amputation of a leg eaten by bacterial infection and the lesions that have badly damaged her face, ears, and paws.
