Please give us an "Always Visible" option for Breadcrumbs & better Sidebar context Please give us an "Always Visible" option for Breadcrumbs & better Sidebar context
Feature Request 💡

u/viktorpali

Right now, the breadcrumbs in the Mac app are hidden unless I hover over them, which honestly slows down my workflow quite a bit. I constantly have to break my focus just to 'hunt' for my location in the hierarchy.

It feels like a similar issue with the sidebar - it lacks context. When I open a document to figure out where it belongs, the sidebar only shows the top level. I’d love for the sidebar to automatically show the full path to the folder where my document lives, rather than just the root.

I totally get the desire for a clean UI, but hiding this info actually hurts the UX by going against the principle of Recognition rather than Recall. Instead of seeing where I am at a glance, I have to put in extra effort to find the path.

Could you please add settings to make breadcrumbs Always Visible and allow the sidebar to reveal the file location? That would be a huge help for those of us who prioritize speed and context over minimalism.

Thank you!

Share your Craft 🙌

Hello community. I was busy improving Craftboard and wanted to share the latest batch of updates just in case anyone is interested.

Remember that it's free, you don't even need to host it, it just uses the Craft API and I don't have access to your data, it just requires readonly access so It's safe.

I don't plan to add write access, however I added some features to quickly add tasks using the Craft URL Scheme.

I didn't plan on updating that much the app but I just keep finding new interesting things to add.

1. Added quick access button

2. The music now keeps playing while you navigate Craftboard and it follows you around with the new floating player

3. Bookmarks now can be separated into different lanes using the env property

4. Graph view now can display tags (user selected tags though)

5. You can paste a link into the dashboard to make a PIN URL widget automatically

6. New TagView section

7. Pomodoro and Stopwatch timers are visible at all times

(also added Tasks badge displaying active tasks, if you "install" the app as a web app on mobile their are displayed too)

8. You can add now tasks directly from the tasks view into craft for specific days

- - - - -

I think those are all the big changes. The whole documentation is on the link below.

How to add existing notes to a Collection How to add existing notes to a Collection
Feature Request 💡

At the moment, it seems that the only way to include an existing note in a Collection is by adding a “Link to Block” field. From a user’s perspective, though, a smoother and more intuitive approach would be to simply group existing notes directly.

You can make each row in a Collection correspond to a single document, but that creates a lot of unnecessary documents, which isn’t ideal. In my view, a Collection should allow existing notes to be freely added and removed as items.

As far as I can tell, there doesn’t seem to be any menu option to turn an existing note into a record in a Collection. If there actually is a way to do this, I’d really appreciate it if someone could explain how.

Whiteboard so buggy Whiteboard so buggy
Bug 🐞

I want to love the whiteboard.

I like to think with a writing utensil and sketch out ideas in a very tactile way. Historically used pen and paper for this but when I got an iPad started using Good notes for this.

Wanted to be done with good notes and do the creative thinking on whiteboard within a doc that could more easily connect to other parts of my work (I eventually move to typing out my work after the brainstorming phase).

Whiteboard is just so buggy. It auto erases lines seemingly randomly so that I come out of my flow to try repeatedly to get a mark on the board to “stick”. The pinch and zoom sometimes stops responding so that I have to leave the whiteboard and then go back in. All disruptions to my thinking process that slow me down.

Anyone else have similar issues?

I HAD to come on here and give props to the team at Craft.

I got access to this as a part of SetApp maybe 18 months ago and thought, “wow! Pretty note taking app! But it would take some earth shattering event to have me seriously put this in my already hefty stack.

I pay $7/ month for ClickUp Business since 2019 and have Notion since 2020. Grabbed an AppSumo lifetime deal for Fusebase a while back (Nimbus)

Obsidian is open source. SideNotes is so convenient so I had to try that too of course at one point.

I am a digital business systems consultant as my full time gig by the way. Specializing in AI and Automated workflows to help online fitness brands serve their clients better, make more money and spend less time doing so.

So I have worked extensively with thousands of apps over my hundreds of clients. I read API docs like some read the newspaper 🗞️** Haha**.

One may say I have a slight software addiction. It is what it is right?

But ooh, Craft has an integration with Spellar! (Let’s see what that is like!)

Then it was convenient because it supported Shortcuts natively. (I would moan for collections, but Claude seems to handle that just fine now)

Ooh Whiteboards! - light mermaid support too 😊 I mean I am a very “visual” guy when it comes to planning.

Oh here comes Collections, with ongoing upgrades.

I Really saw the genius in the daily note system for a debriefing routine.

Robust exports - Because sometimes a brother needs to throw things into an IDE in Markdown so your agents have GitHub access, right?

And of course we have to be able to import and paste as markdown seamlessly as well in our LLM age.

I started to sweat 😓** **

Oh no, not another software ecosystem coming down the pike.

Then…

You HAD to drop the API / MCP thing. 🥴💦** **

My defenses are dropping 🛡

But as great as these all are, I have an Android e-ink Boox Tablet. I tried the web version on the tablet and it wasn’t a great experience. So I guess that settles that!

Ummm. There’s an Android app in Beta?!? I was unaware that was in the cards at all.

It is far superior to the web browser version on the tablet.

Of course now I have gone all “feature creature” mode and am clicking on every toggle, menu, button etc.

Now I especially had to write this where I saw some negative comments about the upgrades. And I had to let you know that there is a distinctly different sentiment out there as well.

I have 2 pretty important remaining hopes floating out there still. But I won’t spoil the post with a request.

This is a celebration 🎉 of a job well done

I’m tempted to give you some serious biz systems content with Craft in the middle so you can use to to turn more heads.

I’m in a lot of communities and have not heard this app mentioned once outside my own findings. Crazy 🤪** **

Thanks 🙏🏻** really great stuff**.

General 💭

A good 3-4 of those were just “I can’t see your content” error responses, so I hope it didn’t use up my credits just for running the chat. Their numbering system seems different from other ones (I think I had 50 credits?)

I was really excited about how well it was working & how many built in options they had, but I didn’t get enough of an opportunity to try it to invest in more.

If they put up info about how many credits selecting # words as context converts to, it’d be easier to change up my requests to only select specific blocks or something. Oh well

How can I build a website on Craft? How can I build a website on Craft?
Help 🤝

Hi. I have a work website that I was wondering if it’s possible to just run through Craft. Is that possible? Secure? Recommended?

I post information on the website, post to a blog within it, and use it for clients to schedule and book appointments, with links for payment. Is this possible to set up through Craft?

Lastly, how do I set up Craft so the website goes through my own domain?

If all this is possible, can you send me links so I can learn how to do it?

Thanks!

I want to use Craft in place of Trello to track our web shop’s orders. I want to link a collection with Shopify via API.

But we really, really need kanban to keep the UX familiar for our staff, and because it just seems like the proper layout for this use.

Only E2EE is missing Only E2EE is missing
Feature Request 💡

I believe Craft is very close to becoming the best note-taking and documentation application on the market. The experience, performance, editor, and organization are already there. However, a critical component is missing for many users (including myself) to adopt it in their daily work and across entire teams: true, auditable, end-to-end encryption (E2EE) with a third-party verifiable implementation.

We know this isn't "just adding a feature." We fully understand the technical implications: architectural changes, local key management, client-to-client synchronization, key sharing for collaboration, and the loss of certain server capabilities if content is no longer visible to the cloud. Even so, the direction the industry is heading is clear: privacy first and user control.

If Craft were to implement serious and well-designed E2EE, with independent auditing, a large number of users and companies would be ready to migrate. The lack of E2EE today is not a minor detail; it's a deciding factor. With that addition, Craft would move beyond competing solely on user experience and begin competing also on security and trust, which is what modern applications must offer.

Craft is already excellent. It just needs the most important component for the future of software focused on productivity and teamwork.

The redesign is worthwhile.

CraftWork- a Drafts Action Group for Craft CraftWork- a Drafts Action Group for Craft
Tips & Tricks 😎

This was my submission to the Craft Winter Challenge (and it actually one a prize by the team 😍)

CraftWork is an Action Group for Drafts that connects your quick capture workflow directly to Craft using the API.

What it does:

  • Daily Notes – Append content to today's, tomorrow's, or any date's Daily Note

  • Tasks – Create tasks in inbox or Daily Notes, extract markdown tasks from drafts,...

  • Documents – Create documents with folder selection, back-links to drafts or Daily Notes

  • Collections – Add items to collections with full property support (text, dates, selects, etc.)

  • Smart Add – Navigate folders, detect collections, choose the right action

How it works: The action group uses a JavaScript library (CraftDraftsLib.js) that wraps the Craft API. It handles authentication, folder navigation, collection schemas, and all the API complexity behind simple one-tap actions.

Switching from Things 3 to Craft - Feature Gaps I've Found Switching from Things 3 to Craft - Feature Gaps I've Found
Feature Request 💡

I've been using Things 3 for many years to manage work-related tasks and initiatives across several companies and roles. A few weeks ago, I started experimenting with switching my task management to Craft. Things 3 works well, but I'm interested in consolidating my tools and challenging myself to see if Craft can meet my needs.

Below are the features I've found missing or areas where Craft could improve:

  1. Keep completed tasks visible until the next day - Add a setting to keep done tasks in view for the current day, and only remove them the following day

  2. Full-screen view for completed tasks - Show completed tasks in a full view instead of a small modal, and include search and sort functionality

  3. Quick "Today" scheduling button - Add a quick "TODAY" schedule option when opening the task preview panel

  4. Global keyboard shortcut for new task - I am used to be able to use <ctrl><space> on my Mac to quickly add tasks that gets directly into the Inbox or if I set their schedule get to the All tasks

  5. Sort by schedule date - Allow sorting by schedule date in Tasks views

  6. Show Inbox, Today, and Upcoming as groups in "All" view - When viewing "All" tasks, display Inbox, Today, and Upcoming as collapsible groups (similar to how Inbox currently appears), with drag-and-drop support to change scheduling

  7. Customizable layout for pinned documents - Allow changing the layout of pinned docs in the Tasks view (e.g., switch from grid/matrix to full-width layout)

  8. Support tags within task titles - Allow inline tags to be added directly in the task title

  9. Easier way to see task's content - when I open a task, I need to click again on the Open button to see its content which is double the effort I would expect. When I open an existing task I would show its content and not just the title

Top Four Wishes for Craft so Far Top Four Wishes for Craft so Far
Feature Request 💡

I'm relatively new to Craft Docs, so maybe there's a workaround for some but these are the top four things I miss almost every time I use Craft:

  1. When sharing to a new document in Craft, it would be great if we could optionally give it a name and specify a folder right in the share dialog instead of having to navigate to Craft every time to finish creating and moving the doc from Unsorted.

  2. Need an custom dictionary and the ability to learn or option to ignore words.

  3. As others have requested, we need a way to change image display size. In Apple Notes, you can select between large and small. Even if Craft can't handle something more complex like infinite scaling, this would be a huge improvement.

  4. Please add the "(1)" number format. I prefer and use it whenever possible over "1."!

Update: Whoops, I just remembered Craft does have a custom dictionary/learn spelling feature. But still don't see any way to ignore spelling for rare or one-time use cases.

Where has Craft Gone? Where has Craft Gone?
General 💭

I've been using Craft for years, originally finding it after years of Evernote, and have strayed to Obsidian for a short period of time. I'm currently torn, where Craft was originally a focused solution for note taking that was easy to jump in and out of, I feel it's getting "heavy". I've found myself lost in menus on the iPad app, struggled with the linear versus calendar view for the daily notes, overwhelmed by the push to AI all the things, and even typing feels like it has a lag across multiple Mac's and the iPad.

I'm tempted to go back to Obsidian, only because I can curate the "old Craft" experience. Am I alone on this? Is there an option to turn off the bells and whistles? Should I stop yelling at the clouds and accept the software that I originally loved has moved on?

Control centre widget for Craft? Control centre widget for Craft?
Feature Request 💡

I’ve used Craft off and on for years. With the most recent updates I’ve been contemplating coming back to Craft as my primarily note app. One of the sticking points is quick entry. While there is very quick entry from inside the app on macOS or iOS, there doesn’t seem to be a quick way to just enter some text into a note, create a new note or add a task as a global from elsewhere in either OS.

iOS adds the ability for developers to create control centre widgets that could provide that functionality. Will Craft be adding this functionality sometime soon?

Question: Can the new Craft API sync tasks with Todoist or Apple Reminders? Question: Can the new Craft API sync tasks with Todoist or Apple Reminders?
Help 🤝

Hi! I love how Craft lets you add tasks with dates directly inside documents — it’s a great workflow. But I often struggle with how tasks appear across the different views. When I reorder tasks in Task View, the order doesn’t match in Calendar View, Today View, or widgets, which makes it hard to keep things consistent.

Now that Craft has released an API, I’m wondering:

Is it possible to use the Craft API to sync Craft tasks with external task managers like Todoist or Apple Reminders? Ideally, I’d like to keep planning and note-taking in Craft but manage tasks more reliably in a dedicated task app.

Has anyone tried this, or knows whether the API exposes tasks well enough for syncing?

Thanks!

Congratulations on the new Craft features. But I'm still way behind. I'd like to learn the basics. How to start working with the app. A kind of tutorial. I prefer using it via smartphone. I start with the "+" which asks me to choose what I want. Document, task, or... I choose and from there I get lost because I can't find the logic. However, I recognize that after this phase and from the examples I see, it seems fabulous. So much so that I even subscribed to the app thinking it would be easier to get help, and I stopped because I couldn't get help from Ctraft nor did I understand the logic. I know the problem is mine.

New Craft Assistant - eh... New Craft Assistant - eh...

Why does everyone keep building these 'helpers' who can't actually do anything themselves to your document. Same as MS Copilot and so many other ones I have tried. It did a pretty good job I think of helping reordering all my entries into an intelligent flow for the project and I wanted to have it adjust my data to match it and was once again told 'oh thanks I can't actually do anything like that' but you can do it manually. Um I could do that before AI was here thanks. Is this cause it's new and they haven't given it rights to start doing things or is this just what it does?

  1. Add a forward page arrow. As of now, there is only a back arrow.

  2. Make new tabs be actual new tabs, not just the current tab.

  3. Allow us to open a space in a new tab or window directly from the space drop down menu

  4. Better would be to bring back the spaces menu that was in the left sidebar where spaces were separated into personal and team.

  5. Allow us to pin tabs either to the top or the sidebar

  6. Allow us to designate home pages or landing pages for spaces that will open whenever we move to a space from the dropdown menu.

Recreating Casey Newton's productivity system in Craft? Recreating Casey Newton's productivity system in Craft?
General 💭

On the most recent episode of the Hard Fork podcast, Casey Newton shared his productivity system that he said he's finally happy with, and as a habitual note-taking system hacker, plans on using this throughout 2026 with no modifications as a resolution.

He uses Capacities, but said that this could likely be reproducable in any of the major note taking applications. I'm wondering how this might be best reproduced in Craft?

His system revolves around three main tenants:

  1. Daily journaling - A place to write each morning and clear his head

  2. Lightweight task management - To-dos integrated with the journal

  3. "Blips" system - Inspired by Andy Matuschak, blips are small notes based on quick thoughts or ideas that get randomly surfaced each day within the daily note, to remind him to either add relevant new news articles or supporting thoughts for development, or to potentially expand for a newsletter article

Number 1 and 2 seem rather self-evident in Craft, but this Blips idea is intriguing. This would entail making singular out of singular small ideas, "quick capture" if you will, that get resurfaced in our Daily Notes during morning pages/journaling.

Could this be done through a Collection? Any thoughts on how to build this kind of resurfacing system in a Daily Note?

Share your Craft 🙌

Like many of you, I've been wanting a better way to see and manage my Craft tasks. So I built Craft Kanban — a browser-based board that pulls all your tasks into one view.

What it does:

  - Inbox, Backlog (overdue), Today, Future — or switch to a full 7-day week view

  - Supports Inbox Tasks and Daily Note Tasks; Drag tasks between columns to reschedule (actually moves them in Craft)

  - Focus mode: press F to hide everything except today

  - Dark mode, keyboard shortcuts, the works

  What it doesn't do:

  - No app to install. It's just a webpage.

  - No account, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

  - Your data never touches my servers (there are none)

It uses the new Craft API, so everything syncs back to your docs in real-time.

hey everyone, just shipped an n8n community node for craft that hit 2,500+ downloads in two days. basically you can now build ai agents with craft, migrate from notion in hours instead of weeks, and connect craft to 400+ apps without coding.

the cool part: n8n already has 2,200+ workflow templates. hundreds of them use notion as a database/crm/knowledge base. they all work with craft now—you literally just swap notion for craft in the workflow. some examples: ai meeting assistant that transcribes calls and creates structured craft pages (like this), form-to-crm system that turns website leads into craft entries (this one), ai knowledge base that lets you chat with your craft docs (here), and a bunch more for client onboarding, resume screening, blog pipelines, support faqs—all proven workflows people already use.

quick install: open n8n → settings → community nodes → search "craft-daily-notes" → connect your workspace. full guide + demo here: https://github.com/yigitkonur/n8n-nodes-craft-daily-notes.

figured this might be useful for anyone wanting to automate their craft setup or build custom workflows without starting from scratch. open source, free to use, 50+ commits in 3 days to get it working right.

  2. Name of space

What is Craft for? What is Craft for?
Help 🤝

I just took a look at it and I'm intrigued, but I'm not really sure what it's for. Right now, I use Notes a LOT. Like, thousands of notes going back a decade. Is this a supercharged replacement for that? I use tables in Notes and am frustrated by the lack of features, like sorting. I also save things about stuff I'm learning and things I want to have as reference, like the model number of our fridge and silly things like that. Privacy is also important, I have several locked notes that need to stay private. I make a lot of lists (movies to watch, etc.) and To-Dos. I like the integration with Calendar, does it also integrate with contacts? Can you print them? That's also very important, Notes does a great job of printing everything legibly. And, of course, I need it to be available to me at all times on all devices.

So, what is Craft for? A Notes replacement? Thanks.
