Lacking Love

Preservation over evaluation.
Against disposability. For remembrance.
Beyond ratings. Toward memory.
The list will be updated over time to improve curation and preservation.
Updating the list as my knowledge of games deepens.
The sakuras are beautiful, but there's still beauty in the sunflowers.
I created this list to give space and attention to games that have been forgotten, ignored, or simply overlooked — works that still deserve to be played and remembered.
Not all of them are perfect. Some are strange, flawed, or misunderstood.
But they all have value.
Every game is a part of the diverse and imperfect expression of human creativity, and dismissing them solely for their flaws would be the same as rejecting a piece of that expression.
The technical criteria are simple:
games with fewer than 500 plays on Backloggd.
The purpose is deeper:
to give a voice to what was left behind,
to help these works reach someone who can appreciate them,
and to recognize beauty not only in the celebrated, but also in the forgotten and imperfect.
This list is an invitation:
Give the overlooked a chance.
Discover what few have noticed.
And maybe find something that touches you in an unexpected way.
See the notes.
With more love for games, little by little, we can create a world with more love.
Underrated, underappreciated games (under 500 plays on Backloggd) that deserve visibility and affection.
I won’t explain why every game was chosen.
More than 490 plays = removed from the list.
List limit: 311.
Give these games a chance.
Every game in this medium has value.
Warning: some titles contain adult content. Viewer discretion advised.

Some experiences are meant to be lived before leaving this world—not simply to check them off a list, but to awaken our consciousness and enrich our souls.
Ultima Underworld is one of those rare journeys that lingers in the soul long after it ends, immersing the player in a world unlike any other.

Play both the remake (Wizardry: Llylgamyn Saga) and the original Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord for different reasons.
Both are essential games in the history of video games.
I personally recommend the NES version of Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord, but choose whichever version you want to play.

PC-98 version.
My explanation:
I tried to think hard about whether I should put this game on the list or not, but I decided to do it anyway.
It's a difficult game to recommend to anyone because of so many different aspects, but it still deserves to be enjoyed.
Play this game if you really care about Japanese adventure games, eroge.
It's an influential classic of this niche for a good reason.
Focus on the story and themes, rather than the problematic aspects.
+18.
