Romantic relationships between adults and teenagers apparently used to be socially acceptable in the 1980s in the USA (source), but now are among the biggest social taboos, especially in the United States, while they are largely considered normal in the Scandinavian world (Sweden, Norway).

Adult-teen couples normally form with adult men and teenage women, given that women mature earlier and usually desire to be in romantic relationships with male partners more mature than themselves.

Why would the prefrontal cortex even be there otherwise, anyway? How "developed" does it need to be to start being "used"? Does any other bodypart work this way? Why men oppose adult-teen relationships.​

Because of envy. Mating is a zero-sum game, and there are only a limited number of women at a reproductive age.

Subconsciously, males hate the idea that some other male takes away a female they are attracted to. This includes physically mature teenage women who just-so happen to be younger than the social construct "age of majority".

So agecuck men use accusations of pedophilia as a convenient weapon to attack a competitor in the dating market. They would rather have no one be with a teenage woman than someone else. They are projecting and virtue-signalling. If adult-teen romantic relationships were legal and socially acceptable in their country, they would not hesitate to get into one if an opportunity formed.

Also, attraction to teenage women is called "ephebeophilia", not "pedophilia". But the latter word is used due to its shock value.

Those men setting up sting operations (Chris Hansen, JiDion, ...) defending the teenage women from those "evil monsters" subconsciously hope to gain the romantic interest of the same teenage women in order to be accepted themselves as romantic and/or sexual partner as soon as they reach legal age. They want to be seen as heroes in the eyes of the teenage women.

Also, remember how Hansen cheated with his wife in 2011 with a woman 21 years younger than himelf (sources: NY daily news, John Swan video). So he himself is attracted to women much younger than himself, so he can't possibly blame young adult men for forming romantic relationships with "minor" mid-to-late-teen aged females.

The age of majority was made up by bureaucrats who themselves are well past the age of having an understanding of teenage love, and by elites who want all teenage women for their own class only, see Epstein's Island. Also, some people equate a romantic relationship with a sexual relationship (example 1, example 2), even though a romantic relationship does not have to include sexual intercourse.

Why women oppose adult-teen relationships.​

It is common knowledge that many teenage women are physically indistinguishable from young adult women, even if they are below the social construct "age of majority". Everyone knows this, but due to social implications, many people don't say it.

If teenage women were allowed (whether by law or by social standards) to form romantic relationships or sleep with adult men, adult women have more competition on the dating "market", and they surely don't want that.

Adult women shame and verbally attack men for being attracted teenage women by asserting that it is just as bad as being attracted to prepubecent children, given that both have the same label of "minors", even though they are obviously at completely different stages of physical maturity.
