I was not prepared for how accurate his simple cartoon avatar was.

1. unexpected Main Character change 2. unexpected collab with Tachibana this is so gold

I’m astonished that the student inadvertently drew the attention of his trolls to his lawyer

The kid said some awful things online but his haters got back at him by [checks notes] making bomb threats and going to prison. They’re all losers.

I lost it when you revealed he got Tachibana as a client. Japan Cinematic Universe.

It's one thing to make a shitpost making fun of someone, but it's really weird when people actually ruin their lives with long prison sentences in the name of messing with someone. It's like wow, you sure showed him by going to jail for 8 years.

"He hired Japan's premier expert in internet law" Everyone run, he called the cyber police

Karasawa didn't work in his father's law firm. His father is an accountant, not an attorney. It's probably true, though, that he depended on his father's financial resources for almost everything in his life. I've also seen rumors that his father was paying rent for the space Karasawa's law firm occupied, but I haven't confirmed this.

Oh my god, Japanese internet in 2010 was vicious

It is said that this incident advanced online harassment methods by ten years. One of the worst forms of harassment involved spreading a rumor that an orgy party was taking place at the Yagami’s family home, which actually led to gathering numerous people. Some people attempted to enter the house and there is a photo of many cars lined up in front of the house.

"and while he's likely not responsible for any of the bomb threads" imagine if he actually was responsible for one, nobody would've even suspected him

Sending bomb threats via fax is such a Japanese thing.

Oh my god, I was not expecting the Destroy the NHK guy to make a cameo.

Getting "destroy the NHK" Tachibana as a client after NHK produced a 1 hour documentary metaphorically gargling his balls is peak.

The Japanese internet is the epitome of "taking things too far." The lawyer was a ignorant idiot, but he didn't deserve years of harassment. To be honest, he made the best of the situation. I imagine others may have committed "non-ceremonial seppuku" under such pressure.

Defacing his family member's grave is super low. What kind of person would do that?
3.5K
Funny that the lawyer lives life although annoyed still unscathed while the harassers are screwing their lives over by getting criminal records theyd have forever

I actually feel bad for this lawyer, that level of harassment was way too far
12
Apparently bomb threats from his trolls reached as far as Korea and even the Philippines, the authorities oblivious to the whole trollimg campaign

Internet psychosis. Lol-cows vs trolls is always more sad than funny.

Never underestimate internet losers.

He should hire a lawyer.

An internet board getting so angry it makes a guy famous across the country for unrelated reasons is amazing, but the crimes sour it.

In Germany we have/had a similar case called "Drachenlord". Thought a phenomenon like that is pretty unique but I guess it happens all over the world.
47
Karasawa is one of those people who realizes he's becoming a meme and instead of fighting it he decided to ride the waves and bolster his popularity
391
The US has Chris Chan, Germany has Drachenlord and Japan has Karasawa.

A tired lawyer vs the biggest losers on the planet, who can win?

Here after someone impersonating Takahiro calling for a chemical terrorism threat in... South Korea. Jesus Christ.

And still the funniest thing is how this lawyer holds a mouse backwards
14
Yagami got trolls off his back by throwing a decoy to the crowd.
23
I learned about this from Atrocity Guide. I'm equal parts impressed and terrified by how Japanese people troll. I don't even think Chris Chan's trolling got to this level in some regards.
206
WTF is wrong with people? Why would you risk going to jail just to make fun of some dude? Also only 4 years for threatening the whole government!

Any night a new Japanalysis video drops is a good night

The first impact on Yagami was him getting doxxed. The second impact for him was that he wasn't even the main character of this episode.

Oh wow, this poor guy.. it doesn‘t stop

proof that intellegence and wisdom are not the same stat.

Okay, I am now really scared of Japanese online users....

He should've threatened to get public security involved this seems like criminal harassment

If I've learned anything from this channel is that it seems like untreated mental illness and trauma is a huuuuuuge problem in Japan. I'm at a loss for words that there are some people who are willing to create that much chaos, to cause so much harm, to completely ruin their own life, just to troll someone they've never even met.
