The New Year has seen the Gig Economy Debate reignite like never before. Unions are trying to strike and demand better pay - activists are blaming new-age companies for practising techno-feudalism.... on the other hand entrepreneurs like Deepinder Goyal are hitting back - giving hard data about what makes the Gig Economy work. But then who is responsible for India's massive labour workforce getting exploited? How did we come to this situation that even gig-workers are not getting basic pay & what can be done to at-least alleviate the situation a little bit. 🇮🇳 SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE VIDEOS 🇮🇳 - https://www.youtube.com/thedeshbhakt ▶️ ⛔️ BECOME AN ANNUAL DESHBHAKT MEMBER - https://www.patreon.com/thedeshbhakt ⛔️ Unlock MEMBER ONLY: 1) Chats 2) Discord Server 3) Special Episodes OR Join this channel on You Tube to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmTM... 👕 DESHBHAKT MERCH - India's First Line of Socially & Politically aware tees 👕 https://kadakmerch.com/collections/th... 📧 BUSINESS ENQUIRIES - contact (at) thedeshbhakt (dot) in 📧 *** SUBSCRIBE / FOLLOW US *** YouTube: - https://youtube.com/thedeshbhakt Twitter :- https://twitter.com/thedeshbhakt Instagram :- https://instagram.com/akashbanerjee.in Facebook :- https://www.facebook.com/akashbanerje... They say that in war, truth is the first casualty. Turns out that the Govt. of Pakistan wasn't too happy with the truth bombs we are dropping post Pahalgam Terrorist Attack & Operation Sindoor... but banning ‪@thedeshbhakt‬ is not going to solve Pakistan's financial, social or terror problems. Bans seldom solve anything. On one hand Pak Govt says that they 'won the war' - on the other hand they are banning stuff left - right & centre. Why the panic & hypocrisy? One wonders. Regardless of the ban - we will continue to speak against extremism, terrorism & authoritarianism in any nation - as we always have. We will also try and reaching out to those sensible Pakistanis - who see the game that General Asim Munir is playing, because the ONLY way to bring stability to Pakistan is going to be through her people - who need to be told the truth - something that the Pakistani Army is desperately trying to stop. There has been a clear trend of supporting terror and that need to end - of Pakistan's sake (if not India's) In the meantime - for folks like Ahmad - (who sent a wonderful and warm note) - here's to finding the facts, of understanding various perspectives and working towards a better nation (and neighbourhood) Akash / The Deshbhakt PS - VPN Zindabad!

Gratitude… Here’s hoping that you had a great start to 2025. My ‘New Year’ was a little subdued - no party, no music or dance, no celebration with friends …. Just the steady hum of the Oxygen Concentrator & the BiPAP machine as 2025 rolled in - these are the 2 machines that my father has been dependent on for more than a week now. But it is in moments like these - you are forced to take a pause and reflect with gratitude on the things you have and the fortune one is blessed with. My father - a long term COPD patient - paid a visit to his old friend in Bangalore who was celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately there he developed a nasty case of pneumonia that landed him in the ICU. With his entire family support structure in Delhi / NCR - it was his old family friend who got him to hospital / pulled all the strings / stabilised / took immense care of him ….Till we got to Bangalore. Now, after more than a week in hospital, my dad is out of hospital, but he is not in a condition to fly to Delhi. So we have him recuperating at the same friend's house - who has made everything available to us. With me on guard just incase anything goes south. Gratitude seeing this level of friendships that my parents have - spanning decades - with so much richness and depth (something to aspire for in today's age of flakiness) Gratitude for being able to take care of dad when he needed it - to get him the best medical care - of having the elbow room to put The Deshbhakt on a rare hold and ensure that dad is atleast stable before resuming work. It's in moments like these when u thank your stars for a solid family and friend circle. In the professional front - over the last few days, I got a chance to rummage over the incredible support we got in 2024, (a year when India narrowly missed becoming a one party democracy) Gratitude for the faith that subscribers have put on us - to make Deshbhakt a 5 million strong channel on Youtube (with a BILLION views coming up soon) Gratitude to EVERY deshbhakt member - past / present - on Patreon.com/thedeshbhakt or here on Youtube - each one of you have played a KEY role to keep us alive and growing. We know that you have our back and it means a lot - never having to bend to market forces or ‘requests’ from shady parties. Special mention to our Ultimate Deshbhakt members - who have nothing but the wish that India shines bright and that the right information reaches to people. Gratitude also for all the hate / bile / abuse we get on a daily basis - for 6 years it has been a privilege to spit facts, satire and data on the faces of haters and watch them squirm, froth and rant … for without that ranting / abuse and trolling we would never have got the engagement to grow as much as we did!!! :))) (And we will be making a lot more folks uncomfortable in 2025 with more facts / satire and data) Finally gratitude for all of you believing in the mission of Deshbhakt - to create a lot more aware and proactive citizens who question the wrongs and fight to make India a truly progressive, inclusive & constitutional democracy. For 6 years we have strived to deliver factual content and break down complex issues. In 2025 India will face a lot more headwinds as the true nature and depth of our economic crisis is exposed. There will be a lot more distraction into the past and ‘others’ that will take place - a lot more attempts to discredit voices of reason and logic - and sadly the spirit of debate and discussion will shrink further with people refusing to admit their mistakes. Though all this mess - we will continue to do what we have done for years now. We aim to be even more brutal with the facts, more biting with the satire and more in-depth with the data. If you have some ideas for The Deshbhakt - do share it in the comments below. The good, the bad, the ugly is all welcome !!!! Akash Banerjee For Team Deshbhakt 1st of January, 2025.

As we step into another year of our Independence - here's a look at where we came from ... maybe then we can truly appreciate how far India has come despite all the odds. Published in 1801 - this map of British India was made by Cartographer John Russel (c. 1750 - 1829) and is now part of my small map / art collection. Its precious to me because it shows what my country could have been - if Indians had not come together to fight the British for Independence. Also how parts of India would have looked if an incompetent Cyril Radcliffe had not drawn brutal lines across United Bengal and Punjab. If the British had their way - they would have left India in this situation as well - Divided / Fragmented / at War with itself. But the fact that India united for a common cause and stayed United for the next 75 years is not a joke.... despite the Partition - we have done an amazing job to lift a landmass of population out of abject poverty. There are countless democracies that have risen and fallen in the same timespan pf 75 years - that is why its ALL THE MORE our duty to preserve the Democracy and the Constitution that our freedom fighters worked so hard for. INDIA - 1947 ... Life expectancy of ONLY 32 years - Literacy at a SHAMEFUL 18% - and a negligible GDP growth of 0.5% for 50 YEARS .... India was not looking good at Independence ... but we proved the detractors wrong over the next seven decades. We did not become a basket case - we did not bag - Not only did we survive - but thrived!!! - The international community started to recognise India for its sheer talent // her democracy & will to grow. Now we have grown to the fifth largest economy in the world!!! However challenges remain - the backsliding of Democracy - the rising hate crimes - the crisis of Unemployment and Gainful Education. Our focus should be on putting India on the forefront of technology / innovation and manufacturing ..... not spend all the time digging up the past to find new reasons to kill each other. Here's wishing that the PEOPLE of India - rise to the challenge and preserve the Democracy and United vision of India that our founders worked so hard for - often giving up their lives. Akash PS = Thoughts / Tips / Questions / Suggestion about the MAP made by John Russel? - let me know in the comments below or send in a mail !!!
