In a world of hundreds upon hundreds of productivity tools to choose from — and with new ones appearing by the week — it’s more tempting than ever to give a new tool a try.

What if it helps me be more organized? What if I can track things just a bit better? Won’t that help me perform better and hit that promotion sooner?

Surely it will, right?

Wrong.

I’ve fallen victim to this trap all too often than I’d like to admit, wasting my precious energy and focus to move my entire productivity system into yet another tool.
