Meghan Markle took the crown as the “Most Disappointing” celebrity of the year, according to the Toronto Star.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, has a long history with the Canadian city where she lived while filming her hit series, Suits.

The former royal was geared up to have a major year with the premiere of her Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, her podcast Confessions of a Female Founder with Meghan, and her Martha Stewart-esque brand, As Ever.

However, in an opinion piece published on Tuesday, December 30, reporter Patricia Treble claimed Meghan’s year “slowly deflated as each project failed to deliver as expected.”

According to Treble, “There’s no sign of a second season for her podcast. Netflix hasn’t officially renewed her show on the eve of its one-off holiday special. It also ended the exclusive and very lucrative five-year deal with the Sussexes, instead opting for a frugal ‘first peek’ deal. As of now, no new projects have been greenlit. Her As Ever homewares site has just 15 items for sale, ranging from $12 (U.S.) raspberry spread to a $35 Sauvignon Blanc (to customers only in the continental U.S.).”

As the world knows, Meghan and husband Prince Harry stepped down as senior working members of the British Royal family in January 2020 before relocating to California to raise their family.

Now, nearly six years later, Treble claims, “Meghan wants everyone to know and acknowledge that she’s royal, without the obligations of working on behalf of the monarch, including all those endless engagements for worthy causes.”

Meghan Markle’s relationship with the royal family became estranged after her exit in 2020. Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, moved to California to live a different lifestyle from the royal clan. Recently, a royal expert claimed that the “Suits” alum might not have allegedly understood her role as the Duchess of Sussex.

The person added that Meghan Markle was often interested in charitable work; therefore, her exit surprised many. Reportedly, her ambitions didn’t align with royal protocols.

Expert on Meghan Markle’s true ambitions: ‘Not sure she craves superstar profile’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left the royal family in 2020, which allegedly strained the couple’s relationship with the monarchy. According to OK! Magazine, many experts wondered why the 44-year-old chose to make her royal exit, given her interests in women’s rights, mental health, and other topics.

Royal expert and former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond recently spoke with the outlet about it. She said, “I have always held the view that Meghan failed to understand that she would never be the top dog in the Royal Family… or even the deputy top dog.”

The expert explained that Markle has been an “independent” woman and that there was no harm in taking control of one’s life. She added, “It’s just that the Royal Family was the wrong vehicle for her ambitions.” Furthermore, she also elaborated on the Duchess of Sussex’s true ambitions.

Despite several rumors, Bond believed that Markle never “craved a superstar profile.” As per the expert, the mother of two has “projects in the pipeline.” She would reportedly “enjoy being in control of every detail” while staying in California.

Meanwhile, an earlier report suggested that Markle’s husband, Harry, could allegedly amend his relationship with his father, King Charles. According to a source, his frequent visits to the UK and “time to time” calling or writing letters to the monarch might make things right.

Meghan Markle to Share Her Personal Recipes and Home Secrets in Brand New 2026 Book

The Duchess of Sussex is ready to invite the world into her kitchen. Following the successful launch of her lifestyle brand and her Netflix foray into the culinary arts, Meghan Markle is preparing to release her first-ever cookbook in early 2026, according to The Daily Mail.

While the 44-year-old mother of two has previously authored the children’s book The Bench and penned the moving foreword for the Together: Our Community Cookbook in 2018, this upcoming solo project marks a major milestone. It is expected to be a written extension of her brand As Ever, offering a deeper look into the recipes and hosting rituals that define her life in Montecito.

Fans of Meghan’s former blog, The Tig, will recall her passion for "elevating the everyday." Sources suggest the new cookbook will lean into the soulful, California-cool aesthetic seen in her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.

The manual is rumored to include some of her most talked-about dishes, such as her signature single-skillet spaghetti and a vibrant rainbow-themed fruit salad. Of course, no cookbook from the Duchess would be complete without her famous offerings: her small-batch jams and marmalades that have already become sell-out hits.

"Meghan is looking at a cookbook for early 2026 and there will be more lifestyle products coming in the spring," an insider shared. The timing is designed to coincide with a fresh expansion of her retail empire, shifting the focus from pantry staples to the atmosphere of the home itself.

The new year won't just bring recipes; it will bring a full Meghan-approved home makeover. The spring 2026 rollout for As Ever is expected to move away from earlier offerings like crepe and biscuit kits to focus on high-end homeware. Candles and signature scents — including those inspired by her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry — are expected to lead the charge. The Duchess is also set to grow her wine collection. While she has already debuted white and rosé varieties, rumors are swirling about a California Cabernet Sauvignon in the pipeline—a nod to her love of full-bodied reds.

Perhaps most importantly for royal watchers, the book is said to focus entirely on the joys of cooking and hosting at home, steering clear of any family drama. Insiders suggest the content will do "no harm" to Harry's family in the UK, instead focusing on the tips and tricks of entertaining that Meghan has shared with celebrity friends like Oprah.

By blending practical how-to guides with reflections on motherhood and friendship, the Duchess is carving out a space that aims to feel both aspirational and accessible. Whether she is picking herbs from her garden or sharing a family-favorite pasta recipe, Meghan’s 2026 vision is clear: it’s all about the art of the welcome.

A recent victory for Prince Harry might have his wife stuck between a rock and a hard place. The husband of Meghan Markle won his fight to receive government-funded security in the UK. Meghan may not be so keen to return to the UK one day. Therefore, one source says, “This puts Meghan in a rather awkward position.”

The Duchess of Sussex and the Prince left the UK for California in 2020. Part of his reasoning for departing initially was a lack of assurances for him, his wife, and his two kids.

This victory might prompt Harry to return to his home country, though that doesn’t seem to be what his wife wants. Meghan grew up in California and apparently has no desire to go back to the UK. Royal author Christopher Anderson tells US Weekly that Meghan fears returning for her would create a “somewhat hostile environment.”

Harry did say in May that he couldn’t see a world in which he came back home with his wife and kids. He added that that despite what some people had done, he still loves his home country.

Meghan reportedly wants to get back in the acting industry and break out of her husband’s shadow. That may not be possible if Harry wants to return to the UK. Word has it that Harry’s brother, Prince William, may take away his estranged brother’s titles and privileges when inheriting the throne.

According to Christopher, the biggest reason Harry might want the kids back in the UK is to enable them to forge a relationship with their grandfather, King Charles. Harry and the King reconciled during the Prince’s visit last year. Charles is currently battling cancer.

Previously, Harry claimed that he’d been denied basic duty of care during his trips back home while visiting from the US.

Meghan Markle is giving fans a glimpse into her personal life — and it isn’t with a tell-all book regarding her time in the royal family. According to a new report, people will be treated to some of her personal favorite recipes in a cookbook coming from the Duchess of Sussex in 2026.

Per the Daily Mail, which cites an insider close to the former Suits actress, Meghan, 44, is putting the recipes for some of her favorite at-home meals — such as “single skillet spaghetti,” “rainbow-themed fruit salad” and a slew of jams and marmalades — into a cookbook that will also offer some of her “tips and tricks” for hosting get-togethers at home.

However, no official details have come out of Meghan’s camp for the rumored cookbook, let alone how it will be distributed.

Still, this would not be the first book Meghan has written: She previously penned the children’s book The Bench. In addition, she toed the line of a cookbook in 2018 when she wrote the foreword for Together: Our Community Cookbook, which came in the wake of the Grenfell fire disaster in London that year.
