A pair of Hong Kong swimmers have clinched gold and silver medals in the women’s 100-metre breaststroke at the National Games for Persons with Disabilities.
Cheung Ho-ying nabbed gold on Wednesday in Shenzhen, breaking the national record with a time of one minute and 19.51 seconds, according to RTHK.
Chan Yui-lam, who followed 0.64 seconds behind, secured her second silver medal.
Chan earned her first silver in the women’s 200-metre freestyle on Tuesday, just 0.1 seconds behind fellow Hong Kong swimmer Lau Chiu-yee.
Lau, 16, not only won gold but also broke the national record with a time of two minutes and 13.5 seconds.
Hong Kong table tennis players have so far contributed the most medals at this year’s Paralympic-style games.
They bagged nine gold, six silver, and four bronze medals over three days of competition at the Tsuen Wan Sports Centre, where more than 150 athletes from across China competed, according to the Hong Kong government.

Meanwhile, on Monday, two Hong Kong pairs won gold medals in the women’s boccia event for the 12-21 age group.
The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games are being held from December 8 to 15 in Guangdong province, Hong Kong, and Macau.
Hong Kong is hosting competitions in five para sports, including boccia, wheelchair fencing, para table tennis, and Special Olympics table tennis. It also hosted the para dance sport competition in September.
