Three people have been injured after a minibus mounted a pavement and crashed into a convenience store on Smithfield, Kennedy Town on Tuesday.

At around 1.40 pm, a green-top minibus, with no passengers, rolled down Smithfield and eventually crashed into a 7-Eleven store at the intersection of Smithfield and Forbes Street, police told HKFP.

Two female passers-by fell down and suffered scrapes, but were not directly hit. Both declined to go to hospital, police added.

The minibus driver, in his 60s, was taken into a police van. He also suffered minor scrapes and refused to go to hospital.

No one has been charged, according to the police.

The minibus caused part of a glass panel at the store to shatter, as bottled drinks scattered onto the pavement.

It was temporarily closed as staff cleared the debris.
