Four people were hospitalised and dozens were evacuated after a fire ripped through a building’s scaffolding in Central on Saturday.
Police told HKFP that the Fire Services Department responded to the blaze at Chinachem Tower on Connaught Road Central at around 4.30pm.

The No.1 alarm fire was upgraded to a No.3 alarm as police cordoned off the area.

A man suffered head injuries, whilst two men and a woman were treated for smoke inhalation at Queen Mary Hospital.
One of them was trapped in a lift, firefighters said, according to RTHK.
Police told HKFP on Saturday that 49 men and seven women were evacuated from the building.
“Why did the scaffolding ignite and burn so quickly?” the Fire Services Department’s Deputy Divisional Commander Lo Shui-sang asked, RTHK reported.
“This is one of the key directions we are focusing on in our probe. When we first arrived at the scene, the scaffolding was already almost completely burnt through,” he added.
