i think that's less him saying it's plagiarism on its own and more saying that like alongside everything else it does seem like they're trying to ape a very specific style without putting in the work to understand what makes it good the coloured lights aren't plagiarism but here they are indicative

I think the idea that if someone does something first, then they are being creative and cool, and if you do it second, then you are just faking it or whatever. It's a win/lose view of aesthetics. There is no history, all the good artists just did that by themselves.
