As President Donald Trump ran for a second term in 2024, Houstonians gave at least $32.4 million to support him and affiliated political committees.

Two Houston residents donated more than $1 million, with another five giving just below that amount.

Trump had more powerful backers elsewhere in Texas, namely the SpaceX and Tesla magnate Elon Musk, who devoted about $250 million alone toward his America PAC. But Houston still provided considerable financial might for the president, who came to the city for a fundraising party in October 2024.

Addison donated just over $6 million in 2024, with most of that haul going to Trump’s campaign and affiliated committees, more than double any other Houston resident. His wife, Shannon, added another $900,000, making her the city’s seventh largest donor to the president.

John Addison gave $5 million to Make America Great Again Inc., $550,000 to Trump 47 Committee, Inc. and $500,000 to Turnout for America.

Many of those donations came after Trump tapped then-U.S. Sen. JD Vance of Ohio as his running mate. Addison, who had not given to Trump’s previous campaigns, was an early supporter of Vance’s U.S. Senate campaign in Ohio.
