[sponsored] Lamma Art Collective (LAC) is set to reopen this weekend, promoting art, culture and community on the laidback outlying island.
From Friday night until Sunday night, the newly relaunched collective will be showcasing a host of musicians, artists and performers – all events are free of charge.
Friday schedule
7pm: Singer-songwriter and music producer Bhavesh Kakkar, from the Indian Himalayas, infuses Sufi vocals with his unique guitar style. He will be joined by seven-year veteran of the handpan, Oleksandr Frolov from Ukraine.
8:30pm: Aileen Alonzo-Hayward has been a mainstay of the local indie scene since 2006: “Masking benign lunacy behind seemingly fairy tale lyrics and effective melodic patterns has been one of the defining qualities of her original sound,” LAC says.
Saturday schedule
7pm: Balatro, from Honduras, combines contemporary dance, acting, painting, clowning, drag and digital media such as animation, photography and music videos. Drop by for an immersive, multimedia performance.
8:30pm: Karen y Los Remedios is the voice of Ana Karen Barajas, an artist and art researcher, and the guitars of Guillermo Berbeyer. Their downtempo beats express express their misfortunes and happiness.
Sunday schedule:
4pm: Reggietheleaf is the vocalist and lyricist for the local band RIDDEM. She will be supported by bandmate Rixin on guitar for an intimate, soulful mix of original songs and covers.
