Before the game is allowed to happen, Hirose goes in and shoots the scientists. Yonekura realizes who he is and yells out “No! Don’t do this! You wouldn’t do this! You’re under the Hippocratic Oath!”

Hirose smirks. “But Doctor,” he says. “I can’t be under the Hippocratic Oath. I’m only 16.” He fires a final bullet. End of game.

He truly was the youngest person ever.

Coming out as trans and then later coming out as a lesbian is like…the most magical experience. Cuz like…realizing that you’re a girl…and then going through a transition to feel more like a girl and then realizing you like other girls and then getting a girlfriend who treats you like a girl and kissies you is an experience that can’t be beat. 10/10. Would recommend.

Today, Chapter 5 Part 1 of Tetro was released and with it, what was ultimately my favorite scene to record as Hirose, Wound. However, given recent information, I find my feelings toward this scene to be rather…complicated.

SPOILERS AHEAD (CW// Mentions of SA, pedophilia)

The scene has Hirose opening up to Mion about when his ex sexually assaulted him. I knew this scene was coming up for awhile and I really wanted to do it justice. As a survivor myself, I understand the importance of making sure a scene where someone discusses trauma like this is handled carefully.

In a way, I found recording this scene to be…oddly cathartic? I have long processed everything that happened to me at this point, but being able to play a character who went through similar trauma as me honestly made me quite happy. If there was a scene I was very much looking forward to people getting to see, it’s Wound.

However, with everything about Von being revealed lately including her apparently being a pedo, I genuinely don’t know if I can look at this scene with the same pride anymore. One aspect that makes the stuff with Hirose’s ex particularly fucked up was that he was an adult and Hirose is still a teenager. It’s a horrifying situation and in fairness, the scene depicts it as horrifying.

But how can I look at any of this without thinking to myself “This was written by someone who could’ve potentially inflicted similar trauma on an underage individual?” Can I separate my intentions with acting the scene from the writer’s intention writing the scene? Does my intention with the scene even matter at this point?

It’s genuinely hard to look at it without this sense of confusion and conflict. And I think that kinda permeates through all of Tetro for me tbh. I’m happy it’s all being uploaded as it was a collaborative work that Von had no place deleting just cuz she got in deep shit. But I can’t deny the writer being a terrible person can often stain one’s feelings on their work. Can I still be happy I got to voice Hirose and that I got to do a scene where he opens up about his trauma in a way that resonated with me?

I genuinely don’t know…

Tetro BLUE Day 3 is going REALLY well so far.

So uh…fun fact!

I didn’t know Hirose was part of the Bleeding until I read the trial script. Until that point, I tried playing it as genuine as possible cuz I assumed he was telling the truth. Alas, the character fooled the voice actress. Well played, Doctor.

This was a very fun chapter to work on. While there weren’t as many this time around, the Hirose moments I got to voice were genuinely some of my favorites. Standard Refill and Corner the Bleeding were absolute peak Hirose moments and a blast to voice!

And hey! Hirose’s still around and I’m very excited for y'all to see what’s next in Chapter 3 :D
