It may finally be time to break out the fan heaters and “hot egg” hand warmers. Temperatures are set to plummet on Wednesday with lows of 12 degrees Celsius expected across Hong Kong.
The Observatory raised the cold weather warning at 4:20pm Tuesday. The strong monsoon and red fire warnings also remain in effect as the winter monsoon brings dry weather to the coastal region of Guangdong.

The weather will continue to be bright with moderate to fresh northerly winds through the week, as the cool weather continues. It is predicted to be warmer next week.
The Senior Citizen Home Safety Association (SCHSA) warned elderly people to wrap up warm and take care of themselves ahead of the cold snap.
Chief Executive Officer Irene Leung said: “Sharp changes of weather and temperature could trigger respiratory diseases or complications of chronic diseases. The SCHSA wishes to remind our seniors to be aware of upcoming weather changes, to take good care of their personal well-being, and to seek help immediately when feeling unwell or in case of emergency.”

The Labour Department has asked employers to take the cold weather warning into consideration.

The government has opened 17 cold weather shelters.
