Really fun game, while I never liked the "OnlyUp / Getting Over it With Bennett Types" types of games, AKA games where you fall down once and you're starting all over again, I've been really enjoying my time in here. While I can't exactly say I'm a massive HoloLive fan (I love the games and sometimes watch shorts with them, but don't actively participate in their streams or watch the videos), this game has a ton of stuff which explains inside jokes so you won't even be missing out on them.

While I felt like at first the controls were a bit weird, eventually once I got used to them I found them really solid.

Developers actively listen to feedback as well, I reported a bug and barely a few hours later they patched it even though it wasn't anything major.

For a free game, this is genuinely a nice game. I'm definitely gonna pick up the Standard Edition DLC at some point, because I can tell the developers put a lot of love into it.

(My playtime's misleading, I let the game run paused AFK for ~10hrs between sleep and writing some of this)
7 long years ago, I played GOI w/ Bennett Foddy, never beat it, and never returned. What follows is a lengthy diatribe/critique from someone who isn't genre-savvy here, and who never set foot in any of its difficult platforming successors.
Haneholo's free, has Hololivers I enjoy, has forgiveness for mistakes via balloons, and is actually fun, so I recommend it, with caveats. But basically, absent those first 2 conditions, there's exactly 0% chance I'd be here. And I've never been the biggest Holofan, but I love HoloCure which is the obvious comparison here, and I never played Vampire Survivors or any of the other bullethell/heaven games either. No need, super comfortable because Holocure's very well done; Kay Yu has a lot to be proud of there. Tough act to follow!

So the stage is a lot longer than I thought, and after 3 attempts I still haven't reached the summit. I think my 1st ended after falling off the golden scales just before the first checkpoint, and the 2nd after falling at the bow and arrow bullseye platforms just before the SSRB restaurant checkpoint. Pro tip, aim directly for the yellow dot right after the arrow strikes. You'll land either on the arrow shaft at the point of impact, or centered on top of the side of the target which is exactly what you want anyway.
In short, I'm getting tired of trying to continue, but I'm anxious about quitting and having to start over; I don't want to have collected... lemme check... 194 coins in vain. That said, if I knew earlier that collecting 100 memories in the gallery would unlock a character (which is what I thought I was collecting coins for), I would have focused more on that earlier. That partly soothed me.

The memories and references are nice, and reading them is somewhat encyclopaedic which I'm pleasantly surprised by. I only found out what a vtuber was ~late 2022, so a lot had come, gone, and even graduated before my time. But I'm also somewhat torn about the memory details. The image for "Hand dynamometer" is upside down. The way they're written, there's a lot of "Momosuzu Nene" where Nene would have done just fine, and vague "a certain crafting game" where Minecraft gets treated like Voldemort. I guess this is japanese-style carefully dodging even the perception of copyright infringement? It's unwieldy to read. Also, at least in english, there are a lot of times where - when I believe a clause of a sentence is meant to be separated by hyphens like this - the two words on either end of both hyphens get concatenated like a compound word (wherewhen, and thisthe). Some of them are also too long to read because there's no scrollbar, so the end is simply cut off. The gallery would benefit from a native english editor to clean up the entries.

Some obstacles I took issue with:
- The 2 "Nene Line" balls between the cherry tomatoes and stag beetle are rolling, which can BARELY be seen because of their shiny, textureless surface. Please give them surface textures (idk, maybe the seams on a baseball or something) so the roll action can be seen and anticipated before the player gets on.
- The schoolhouse eye beam segment is REALLY a pain in the ass. Don't let it fool you; just because you turn your camera away and it isn't shooting beams anymore DOESN'T mean it won't blast you off as soon as it's got line of sight on you. I hate not looking where I'm going, but it seems better to stare at the eye, run blind in the direction to travel when safe, and stop to block with a desk when necessary. I just wish the beam fired even when I pivot my camera away so I could time up my run, or at least so I don't deceive myself into thinking "Oh it only fires if you look at it, dummy" which I now learned the hard way isn't true
- Ayame's "Docchi Docchi" segment is trivia that non-fans can't possibly guess, so here's some answers for the people: The red sword, and the bird I guess. At the very least, I didn't fall with those selections. I picked up the blue coin on the Skull/Crossbone without issue, only to IMMEDIATELY fall off the bowl of whatever with the wind draft upwards because YOU CAN'T STAND ON IT, it knocks you away. Now that I've acknowledged the heating element beneath it I understand why, but it took me an hour just to get back there. Other things too hot to touch commonly glow red, this doesn't.
- Also, falling there, you land below at a bomb-defusal game that seems to be the tail-end of the OkaKoro segment, where you have to input your current holomem's birthday as a 4-digit number under time pressure of 60sec. Hope you're a superfan or got a wiki open! Pekora's is 12Jan, so 0112 is the code you're looking for. I gotta say, my reward for defusal being a drone ONLY up to the submarine is weak. The sub is immediately followed by the pivoting clingfilm containers & the damn schoolhouse eye beam again. Don't get me started!
- The way the electric "chair" game steals control of the camera made me think the game was bugged or that I was softlocked until it let me have control back. I think if this this same camera behaviour also happened earlier at the Minecraft-block Sora Mountain with button-revealed TNT blocks, it would have felt more natural. Maybe just a wooden sign with infobox to tell the player "Sometimes, a button will temporarily lock your character in place and take control of your camera to show you what the button's doing. Don't panic! You won't fall" is in order.
- The pink beds after the red chili pepper near Mio's tarot cards are bouncy, and you aren't close enough to see the bouncy icon until you're already on one. This is probably obvious to anybody who played OnlyUp where I think this was codified, nearly took me out.
- At the Suisei zoomy train, I pressed the button a lot before realizing it pauses the train in place for ~1.5sec. I think adding a Stop sign to signal the player what it does might help, as long as it's positioned to prevent the player from thinking they're meant to jump on and climb it.
- Last checkpoint I reached was the climbable darts, and highest obstacle I can remember falling off of is shortly after Roboco's bald head. No earthly idea how much farther it's meant to go, but I've been at this for over 4hrs, no end is in sight, and this isn't my first attempt, it's my third! At some point earlier (near Subaru's HOWAhouse) I had ~25 baloons, I'm now down to 3, and my patience is gone. I realize complaining about more game to play from something that's free is foolish, but the stage is already 3x longer than I wish it was, and I'm not even done yet. I wish it would end and start a new stage, so I could feel like I've completed something, but instead I'm meant to keep soldiering on. Apparently this one's really long, but the DLC unlocks 9 more stages that are shorter. It's like starting with a marathon to prepare for the 1000 meter dash. I don't feel like I'm checking boxes and building up core competencies for the larger challenges ahead; I feel like I'm beating my head face-first against a final boss right after a tutorial.
Listen, for comparison, I love the Souls franchise, but I refunded Elden Ring for a reason: FromSoft proved they've lost any sense of restraint. Between the constant AoE, the nigh-unending combos, the intentionally hyper-delayed swings staggered against ones almost too fast to humanly react to, and the routine re-use of bosses and minibosses, From doesn't know when to stop, how much is enough, or how much is too much. Haneholo's main stage, while free, feels similar. I get that a game of the year comp in ER is hard to clock as a criticism, you probably would have given anything for that, but I think it's a cautionary tale.

Despite all that, I had fun, I think I improved a lot as things went on, and yea I recommend playing it. There, I'm done. I talk a lot of smack for someone who never made a game before

It's got lots of checkpoints and it regularly gives you single use balloons to glide with so falling isn't a big deal. It's just a lot of 3D platforming with every object you climb being a reference. So much love definitely went into this and it's free! The DLC unlocks more characters to use as skins, variations on the stage, and harder difficulties, but the whole actual game is playable as is (with a freely available easy mode). You can even find additional music to change the bgm in the base game. I have under the listed PC requirements but I didn't encounter any issues with lag or slow down or freezing.

It's free just try it lol

I don't want to leave a thumbs down, but it's more of a thumbs middle if I could give that.

It's only up Hololive edition. The free version has Pekora, Moona and Shion playable. The rest of the members you need the DLC. No EN members as of time of writing and only Indonesia member is Moona, but it has a lot of the JP members.

Pros:
The movement and jumping feel fine and I didn't feel they were imprecise.

The thing I like the most is there are collectibles in the stage you can get that explain the references in the stage. I don't speak Japanese so most of my consumption of JP member content is through subtitles clips so if I miss a clip I won't know a reference, but the game takes that into account. For instance in the first stage which is themed around Pekora there was a part with apples and pears and I didn't know the reference, but the collectible I got nearby explained it.

Cons:
I feel like I'm constantly fighti8ng the camera.

Music is highly repetitive. My advice is turn it off, make a playlist of the Hololive member who's stage you are playing(though if you are playing this you likely already completed that step) and listen to that.

Conclusion:
I didn't play only up so I have no idea how it compares. I don't like rage games. I'll be honest, I don't really see the point in playing this if you are not a streamer. My oshi is Miko, but even if I buy the DLC and play as Miko, ultimately the experience will be identical it will just have references to Miko instead, but like, I could just go on youtube and watch a bunch of the most popular Miko clips.

If you like Hololive and you are a fan of Only Up style gameplay, you'll probably like it.

I'm a little hasty to write this review, but given that this game released about a week ago, I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt.

I saw this game pop up on the store page thinking it looked like an interesting game. It's a platformer and has some of my favorite Vtubers. The biggest drawback however is how much this game is freezing and crashing. In the first ten minutes, my game crashed either not able to make it into the first level or while playing through the first level. In the hopes of fixing these issues, I thought to try and adjust the graphics and window settings of the game, but to no avail.

I deeply apologize, but I can't recommend a game that seems impossible to navigate if I'm having this much trouble. I don't know if it's my specs or the game itself, but it's not worth getting worked up over. I'm sure that the developer will do what they can to buff out these mistakes in time, but I'm hopeful that they'll be able to fix the mistakes.

Well-made game that is perfect for Hololive Fans

🎮 Controls are smooth and responsive. Gameplay is simple platformer yet rewarding as it has a lot of interesting easter eggs and lores for any of that is a fan of Hololive. It can be challenging so it takes a bit of time to get used to.

🖥️ Visuals are great, well-made 3D models

🎵 Great soundtracks

A few things that here hoping that the Devs will add to improve enjoyment of the game:
- Hope future (possibly ALL) of the members get added to the game
- Autosaves to prevent frustration of players
- A bit more interaction with the environments
- Characters ability to make it more fun
