Hong Kong police have arrested two people in Fanling after discovering the body of a kidnap victim, local media reported on Thursday.
Police told HKFP they were investigating a suspected kidnapping but did not say if anyone had been arrested or what had happened to the victim.
According to HK01, a middle-aged man is believed to have been kidnapped around 10 days ago. After his wife called the police, officers arrested a man at a restaurant in Fanling and another person afterwards on Wednesday.
A man’s body was found on a hillside in Ping Yeung Village, Ta Kwu Ling on Thursday, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reported.
Villagers told Ming Pao that police began searching the village on Tuesday. One villager surnamed Tang said the victim was another resident surnamed Cheung who was aged around 50.
The newspaper quoted a friend of the victim who had rushed to the village after the news broke as saying Cheung had invested in a restaurant, and the incident could have arisen from a financial dispute.
