The Chinese emblem has appeared at the top of several Hong Kong government websites next to the local emblem as an updated flag law is gazetted.
The Hong Kong emblem also appears to have shrunk in size by around a quarter.
Websites for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the Legislative Council, the Chief Executive’s Office and the Judiciary are included.

According to the updated law governing the use of the national flag and emblem, gazetted on Friday, the departments “must use the design of the national emblem in a prominent position on the home page of their websites.

The move comes two days after Chief Executive Carrie Lam laid out a plan in her 2021 Policy Address to further integrate the city into China with trade, transport and economic ties.
HKFP has reached out to the government for comment.
