The Po Lin Monastery in Ngong Ping has launched an exhibition to mark the end of the first phase of renovations on its Big Buddha statue. The “Tian Tan Giant Buddha Thus Come Thus Gone Exhibition” introduces the monastery’s origins, construction process, deterioration, repair techniques.
The project’s second phase on Lantau, which includes improving the stairs leading up the statue, is expected to be completed by mid-2022.
