Hong Kong’s mixed pairs boccia team has won a silver medal at the BC4 event finals at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
Leung Yuk-ying, Vivian Lau, and reserve Wong Kwan-hang, played against Slovakia’s Samuel Andrejčík, Michaela Balcová and reserve Martin Streharsky on Saturday. Hong Kong lost to Slovakia 2-3.
This is the city’s third medal at the Paralympics and Leung’s second medal after he won bronze at the Boccia Mixed Individual BC4 event on Wednesday. Table tennis star Wong Ting-ting secured bronze over the weekend.
He previously clinched gold at the Athens 2004 and Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, as well as a silver medal at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics.
A total of 24 Hong Kong representatives are competing in eight sports at the games, including archery, athletics, boccia, equestrian, swimming, table tennis, wheelchair fencing and badminton.
The Tokyo Paralympics come two weeks after Hong Kong celebrated record-breaking success at the Olympic Games, where “Fencing God” Edgar Cheung Ka-long ended the city’s 25-year gold medal draught by winning the men’s foil individual event.
