The Observatory has raised the T3 storm signal as a tropical cyclone over the northern part of the South China Sea moves eastwards.
“However, there are uncertainties in its track and development,” the Observatory predicted on Tuesday. “The associated heavy rain and thunderstorms will affect the coast of southern China and the northern part of the South China Sea in the next couple of days.”
It raised the signal at 4:25 p.m. adding that the weather over southern China will improve early to mid-next week.
The Observatory urged people to secure objects that could be blown away and ensure all windows and doors are securely closed. People who live in low-lying areas should take precautions against flooding. Classes of kindergartens and schools for children with physical disabilities or special needs are suspended.
