Hong Kong’s Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Andy Chan resigned on Thursday owing to health reasons, the government has announced.
Chan joined the government in 1994, and was responsible for assisting Erick Tsang – secretary for constitutional and mainland affairs – in issues such as those related to the Legislative Council.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the government said Chan is on leave at the moment, and his resignation will take effect by the end of the month.
According to Oriental Daily, Chan suffered from high blood pressure.
Tsang thanked Chan for his contribution and wished him a health and happy life in the government statement.
