A 42-year-old man and a 24-year-old man working alongside the victim sustained minor injuries while attempting to stop the assailant, who fled via Exit B2. The pair were sent to the hospital in a conscious state.

Footage shared online appeared to show MTR staff and medical personnel attending to the 34-year-old, lying motionless in a pool of blood next to a row of Hang Seng Bank ATM machines. Images also captured police officers subduing a man outside the station.

After an initial investigation, police arrested a 30-year-old man – surnamed Cheung – on suspicion of murder and wounding. He has been detained for further questioning.

Police said the alleged slasher was a former colleague of the deceased man. The attack is thought to have been related to a personal dispute.

Officers retrieved a 12-inch fruit knife believed to be connected to the incident from the scene.
