Gain XP, loot, Drachma, and favor with the gods... or push too far and perish, leaving only your legacy to live on.
Legacy Carries On
Death is but the beginning. Your accomplishments convert into Legacy Points upon death, giving your next character new advantages.

INHABITANTS WITH THEIR OWN MINDS
The Divine Machine does not ordain all. Every inhabitant is backed by AI, allowing them to have their own temperament, domain, actions, and memory. They remember your actions (or inactions), can respond to the wider community, and can even sometimes change how the world works over time.

Characters remember you across interactions. Their opinion of you is dependent on the choices you make.
Dynamic Story Beats
Interactions are unique and often unpredictable. Quests, rewards, and even punishments can vary according to an inhabitant's opinions and whims.

Instead, each death results in Legacy Points. These points unlock permanent upgrades, better starting conditions, and new paths for future heroes.

History
The Age of Heroes
A golden era when heroes walked beside gods and magic flowed freely. Many legendary artifacts and dungeons date back to this time.
The Great Sundering
A war that broke magic, corrupted creatures, and toppled entire civilizations. The gods largely withdrew.
Now
Magic is dangerous but necessary. Old ruins are rich in power and risk, and the Divine Machine is one of the few stable bridges between mortals and gods.

Elder Meredith
The respected leader of a small village who has dedicated her life to protecting her people. Elder Meredith has deep knowledge of local history, folklore, and the dangers that threaten her community. She's willing to reward those who help her village but expects nothing less than complete dedication to the task.
Tavern Keeper Gareth
A jovial and wise tavern keeper who has seen many adventures come and go. He's always ready with a warm meal, cold ale, and sage advice. He's generous with helpful travelers but won't tolerate troublemakers in his establishment.
Elias the Sage
An ancient and mysterious figure who speaks in riddles and possesses vast knowledge of arcane secrets. Elias appears at crucial moments to offer cryptic guidance to worthy adventurers. He values wisdom over strength and often tests those who seek his counsel. His motives are unclear, but he seems genuinely interested in preventing great evils from befalling the realm.

Beliefs
It is assumed that the gods watch but rarely intervene in the affairs of mortals. Ruins, magic, and other relics from before the Great Sundering are treated with awe and reverence.
Hospitality
Harming a guest is said to invite divine wrath, especially from Nemesis.
Threats
Bandits stalk the roads, corrupted beasts haunt old magic sites, and dark cults chase forbidden power.
Economy
Drachmas are the standard currency, used for everything from basic gear to rare relics and divine favors.
