Nachtrieb – a photographer who covered the Tiananmen Square protest movement in 1989 – collaborated with Obey Giant to produce the posters, which are dedicated to the 2019 Hong Kong protest movement:

“My images used in these prints are from energetic and optimistic moments of the pro-democracy movement. Victory was in the air. Progress seemed inevitable to those with arms outstretched and smiles beaming from their faces. Shepard’s work reflects their hopes and aspirations. The same ones that fortified those protesters in 1989 are now fuel for the passionate idealists on the streets today.”

Ed Nachtrieb

Thank you

The contribution will be well-spent in supporting the HKFP team, allowing us to invest more in original reporting during this tough time. Donors can check out our latest Annual Report – it includes our yearly, audited Transparency Report, so readers can see how carefully we spend our income.

Thank you to Ed, Obey Giant, our Patrons and one-off donors for helping us keep independent media alive in Hong Kong this year.
