Dominic Leung is a hobbyist photographer, specialising in shooting using black and white film. In a series of monochrome shots, he explores the bustle of Hong Kong’s wet markets through the lens of an outside observer.

“There was a period of time in my life where I would always accompany my mother to wet markets. A cookbook author, she always tried to get the best quality ingredients in wet markets and would walk around the whole market a few times before going home,” he told HKFP.

Hong Kong wet markets traditionally sell fresh meat and produce, as opposed to “dry” markets that sell goods such as clothes or electronics.

“I am amazed and inspired by the energy and liveliness at wet markets in Hong Kong, especially outdoor ones,” Leung told HKFP.
