Hong Kong photographer Jordan Yeung has shared with HKFP his series of photographs reflecting on Hong Kong through bodies of water.
Yeung told HKFP that he only started to get into photography in 2013, but now it is a hobby that he practices almost daily.
Yeung recently entered a competition hosted by photography accessories brand Manfrotto and won the first place, sharing his favourite street photography route – from Man Mo Temple in Sheung Wan, to Lan Kwai Fong in Central, and then back to Shun Tak Centre Tram Station in Sheung Wan.
Whenever Yeung goes shooting, he says he takes a wide selection of cameras, lens, tripods and accessories.
“Some say it will be too heavy to bring all these accessories [but] I will be more disappointed if I don’t get any result,” Yeung said. “Like Yang Liwei [the first Chinese astronaut] said, chance favours the prepared mind.”
Yeung says he does not return home when rain starts to fall. Instead, he uses puddles as an opportunity to discover new ways to take photos.
“I crouch and put my camera in the puddle, and I see a very special parallel space,” he said. “The water reflection shows both sides of the [subject] matter – what is real and what lies beneath the surface.”
