A fire hose on the ceiling of Sai Ying Pun MTR station has burst on Sunday, soaking the station floor.

The incident was the second time in six days that a water leak soaked the MTR, after the recently-opened South Horizons station was closed due to serious flooding last Tuesday.

Around 5pm on Sunday, water began to leak from the ceiling near to Exit A at Sai Ying Pun, soaking the station floor and the nearby convenience stores. Neither the exit nor the station were closed, and the leak was repaired at around 8pm.

An MTR spokesman told Apple Daily that the incident was caused by a burst fire hose, and said that station operations were not affected.

Last Tuesday, South Horizons station, which opened in December 2016, was seriously flooded after a ceiling pipe burst near Exit B around 8:45pm.

The flooding caused South Horizons to close for the remainder of the evening. The station reopened the following day.
