Citizens are advised to stay away from water courses as the rain may bring flash floods.

As of 9:45am, northern Lantau and northern and western New Territories recorded more than 10 millimeters of rainfall in the last hour. But the Observatory expects rainfall exceeding 30 millimeters in some areas within an hour.
Rainy weather is expected to continue until Saturday, affected by a trough of low pressure in southern China. Hot weather is expected to return next Wednesday.

“An easterly airstream will affect the south China coast during the weekend and early next week,” the Observatory added. “A southerly airstream is expected to bring hot and showery weather to the region midweek next week.”
