“Fishtank baths,” in which you cannot even extend your legs, have been spotted at one of Hong Kong’s newest property developments, The Argyle.
Apple Daily reported that the bath, found in a three room apartment, was about 70 centimetres by 55 centimetres, or about 4.14 square feet. It had a depth of a little over 60cm, or two feet.
Manhattan Realty General Manager Patrick Chow Kwok-choi said that such bathtubs use less water and are more environmentally friendly.
The rent-only property is owned by the Manhattan Group and overlooks Kadoorie Hill and Lion Rock. Six showroom flats were open on Thursday.
Commenters on Facebook asked if it was a “sink” and one said that “it is only for soaking feet.” Another asked: “Is this for raising turtles?”
